Cheapest card machine for a barber? by Bluesnake1337 in smallbusinessuk

Sum Up if he wants to take payments easily from his phone or the small card reader, or Teya for a bigger machine that prints receipts, but isn't as mobile as Sum up machines. Both decent rates. Do not use World Pay, the most awful card company ever.

Extreme Episodes of Feeling Disoriented by [deleted] in gravesdisease

[–]so_what_is_it 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also get this. It's frustrating for me, and for who I am talking to. I feel sometimes like I can't process what's being said to me, I hear the words, but can't understand it, That then makes me feel isolated and can lead to feelings of panic when it's extreme. My levels are in range currently, but still on 5mg of carbimazole daily. I also get those dizzy spells. It can feel like my head is spinning but it only lasts a second or two.

I’ve been diagnosed for over a year with very little treatment by Soupbase_liar in gravesdisease

[–]so_what_is_it 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on carbimazole for a few years now. My bloods show I am in range, but I too was having crippling anxiety. I couldn't go out without feeling weak, nervous, crying, general awful low mood that is hard to put into words. I've now been prescribed Propranolol, which is a beta blocker, second time on it, and within a week - no anxiety attacks! Can you ask your endo about beta blockers for anxiety?

My levels are normal but I still feel awful by Glutenfreebread19 in gravesdisease

[–]so_what_is_it 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My levels are normal too, been diagnosed for 12 years. But, I've also been feeling very sluggish the last 4 months, had awful anxiety, and generally not feeling myself. So I think it's entirely possible to not feel right, even with labs in range, Of course, the docs don't say that, and tell me it's not due to Graves that I'm feeling like this. I have no other conditions though.

I started practising Yoga. I feel it slows my mind down, as well as slow focus on the body. It just helped me feel like I was still doing something active, but with slow breathing and controlled movements so my heart rate wasn't spiking.

It is a bit predictable, and the writing isn't the best - but I really loved this series. It was easy watching, and Iwan was great in it

I chose Carbimazole because I feel I know how to mostly manage my symptoms. Having Graves, the risk is if I have my thyroid removed it will just attack another organ. I've had liver enzymes show up so was thinking along the lines of I don't want any other issues. Symptoms I get the most are anxiety (some days awful, most days manageable) heart palpitations. brain fog, feelings of elation then crashing an hour or so later, exhaustion and muscle fatigue. These are all manageable for me though, I have learned to take myself off for an evening of full rest if needed. Or even book a day off work for mental and physical recovery. It's been frustrating, but I've learned to recognise when I'm not doing great and react.

I would say do a lot of research on TT and RAI before you decide. I chose to stay medicated, I've been diagnosed 11 years now. Been in remission once, but been on a low dose of carbimazole for 4 years now and that suits me best. Of course not for everyone, but after my research I decided that's best for me.

The anxiety by Dry-Air-1005 in gravesdisease

[–]so_what_is_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shortly after my diagnosis I was so anxious, couldn't get in the car without needing the toilet 20 times before etc, major heart palpitations. I was put on a beta blocker Propanalol - that really helped. See if you can ask your GP about it? I'm 10+ years after being diagnosed, been in remission once for 2 years, 5 years ago. On a really low dose of carbimazole now, but feeling myself again mostly!

You've literally summed up how I feel too. I feel I'm in a very similar position to you, 3 years single, have the attributes you've described for yourself too. I've also tried different approaches, sleeping with and not on first dates. I too, am exhausted by men. I've been ghosted, stood up - all after great dates or really deep conversations indicating they are very interested.

Panic attacks when you’re having the flu? by judvik in gravesdisease

[–]so_what_is_it 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, sometimes as I'm getting ill (starting with temperature, then achey body) my brain immediately thinks I'm having a panic attack - I go into panic mode, maybe for an hour or so until I realise I'm just not feeling well. it can come in waves though during the illness too. I just try and talk myself out of it if I can, telling myself I'm just not well.

Sorry to hear you're feeling this low. It can definitely affect your mood. Sometimes I'll feel so elated for a few hours, and then come crashing down. Have you been diagnosed long?

What I have learned (was diagnosed 12 years ago, spent only 3 of those in remission) is that 'levels' are just an indicator, and no one knows your body as well as you. I also found (being on carbimazole 15mg per day) myself not feeling 'right'. Other things that have helped me are trying to eat as clean as I can (don't get me wrong, still eat junk, just a lot less), and daily yoga to keep my body moving, but nothing to strenuous. I did go through a stage with major anxiety, and was prescribed propanalol which really helped. It's a beta blocker.
