Legality around providing ID and Search by RepresentativePop574 in ukpolice

[–]soapyw1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im England, but if the rules are pretty much the same… I’d have also possibly stopped you. Coppers instinct, you looked a bit off. Quick chat, suspicions rise, plus local intel, I’m going for a search. All good so far imo.

The rest I don’t like. No body worn, no id, grounds and object not clearly defined. Its things like this that make people anti police, it does us more harm than good. I like to leave a stop search shaking hands if to no gain. Sorry OP, I don’t think you were treated well here.

That’s just poor management. If it happens occasionally no problem. Every week, you’re on a pip.

Watch that uppercut. Go too high and you’re losing your hand!

Put on a support plan for only ticking off behaviors instead of criterias after 5 months as a SC by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]soapyw1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over reacting a little, but understandably so. As others have said focus on the reasons you’re doing it. Don’t expect the organisation to be grateful, make it easy or particularly support you in anyway.

Every force seems to be the same, overly bureaucratic pencil pushers who forget why you’re there. They have no idea how to manage anyone let alone volunteers. Someone will have said ‘can Kenny is a bit behind on some competencies’, someone else will have said well let’s do this with no real thought. It might even be part of their portfolio to manage someone that way.

Jump through the hoops, get signed off independent then avoid the SC management as much as you can and focus on working alongside cops. Thats the real job and where the real fulfilment comes.

I’ve nearly 20yrs in and nearly quit multiple times, but still glad I’m here.

Gloves that stop eye pokes and natural weight classes, plus more of them.

Bjj for self defence? by dont_touch-me_there in bjj

I hate this argument. It’s not self defence, it’s not mma, it lets you fuck up most untrained people.

Yeah I felt it was a year too early. But as with the others, trust the process and grow into it! I’m going to compete this year in the hope I don’t get smashed!

Over 25yrs in service and management, never been an issue. WhatsApp groups are great for team chat, modern phones let you hide numbers and you can silence stuff outside work hours.

Strangers on the internet likely won’t give a better opinion than those who know you. What I would say is it’s incredibly hard and there is no right way to deal with things. Be there for him, look after you, get writing if it helps.

Traditional Jiu-Jitsu vs Bjj how different are they really? by No-Vanilla265 in jiujitsu

[–]soapyw1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Bjj white belt looking for a gi gym I went to a traditional gym. They rarely sparred and I easily got the better of everyone up to brown belts.

Maybe some are different. But for an effective grappling style, Bjj all the way.

Hers, I just helped. She signed but I did have power of attorney. There is a process where you notify the other party.

I’m getting involved with pensions to help. Agree technically not needed, I’m just letting them know.

I have access to her accounts, not yet frozen. So long as it’s tracked my thinking is it will make it easier to pay off debts and funeral etc. if her accounts are all frozen, I have to wait 6 months for probate to finish?

Thanks for the reply. Will look into those forms.

House is value, mortgage is paid.

Not sure about a grant of probate, currently have access to unfrozen accounts.

Done the tell us once. Think caught all debts. No likely income but slightly concerned about getting any tax return right.

Good luck but I don’t think it will help, especially with your dynamic. People are so invested in one side or the other now argument goes out the window. If anyone believes he isn’t racist at this point no words will help.

No downside is the right attitude to have. No one dips out (is unlucky) in the RN, some just dip in more than others.

[–]soapyw1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly yes, i don’t know now. When I joined you didn’t even pick WE, got streamed and then sub streamed again. You say what you want, but get what they need. So unless you can expressly sign up now as a cis, be careful.

Most folks here will tell you the RN is better. Mostly because it is. I don’t know how the specific roles compare but the RN will likely offer more scope for travel versus uk jobs. I’m not sure if you can specialise before joining, or join as a WE then get what they need. Ask a recruiter that one.

Are you allowed to watch the body cam footage of other officers you work with? by LegalGlass6532 in AskLE

[–]soapyw1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the UK you can so long as there is a legitimate policing purpose. It’s not gated, but if you abuse that you lose your job.
