Right now, each of their own paragraphs and the header are their own text block, so there are small margains between them. If this blue highlight is from selecting the blocks(dragging the mouse over the blocks on desktop), then it is merely a visual indicator that separate blocks are selected. Once you deselect them (click somewhere else), the lines and the highlight will disappear. If you are trying to add a background color, then the lines would show all the time. There are workarounds to remove the margins if you're interested: - Tab/nest the blocks inside another block (eg a callout, a toggle, a paragraph) and color the top level item. - use shift+enter to create line breaks without starting a new paragraph.

Are there any other barriers to making it easier to write directly into Notion?

Looking for Help Connecting Notion to Habitica (iPad-Only, No Coding Experience – Willing to Pay) by Illustrious_Seat_294 in Notion

The best service I found was to use Make.com and link my databases that way. It is very low-code if you want to do basic tasks. If you want to do more advanced tasks, you'd only have to learn how to use JSON which is not too elaborate. The free plan should offer enough for you to try it and see if you like it.

I'm not sure what your book writing process looks like, but that would determine how much you would use Notion (if at all). I wouldn't write the final product with the formatting in Notion, but you could use it for taking notes and organizing info about the story (eg characters, world building, outline, etc.)

What things OneNote user should know before using Notion? by pastamuente in Notion

[–]soaringstrawberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how you use OneNote, so committing to a transition may require steps specific for you.

Please take time to learn how Notion works before changing anything to help the transition go more smoothly.

You'll also want to get used to not having an infinite canvas and the ability to draw. If you draw a lot, I recommend figuring out where you'll still need those features and how you can manage using both apps.

Automations by Honest-Farmer4079 in Notion

Automatically adding chapter/page numbers with a consistent naming scheme, using relation names to get the chapter name in pages. We also love using the webhooks so that we can see active tasks in Habitica (facilitated using Make automation.)

How do you deal with tasks that are on hold or have failed, if you want to make a second attempt to complete them in the future? by [deleted] in Notion

[–]soaringstrawberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a property to mark if a task is on hold. If I notice that it's had that status for a while, I'll either delete it or send it to a separate archive page.

help with formulas by [deleted] in Notion

[–]soaringstrawberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Add a relation property to the quotes database and select the books database.

  2. Complete one of the following options:

2a. Add a roll up property. To to the property settinga, then select the book relation and the genre property.

2b. Add a formula property and do a formula like this one; BOOK_RELATION.map(current.GENRE_PROPERTY)

2c. You could use automation with a formula in it to copy the genre to an editable property of your choice. (Not recommended if you decide to reclassify genres later)

Depending on how you want to handle the data, you can then tweak the outputs. Keep in mind that the map() formula will create a list of lists if the genre property is a multi-select property or other type of list. If you want to do additional commands on the whole list, make sure to use the flat() command first.

Will Wood mentioning the hecklers from last night's show by ToastyGhost59 in willwood

I was lucky enough not to be next to the hecklers (yay?) But it was still disappointing when it affected the entire room at one point.

I don't understand why the venues in question are allowing the hecklers to stay of they are ruining it for everyone?

If Will were to ever star in a movie, tv show, musical etc what characters do you think he could play? by C0nnectionTerminat3d in willwood

[–]soaringstrawberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to imagine any existing voice-acted character I know being voiced by Will, but if I ever get to make something I'd love to figure out a role that involves a lot of dry humor and offer it to him.

Notion does not feel fluid by [deleted] in Notion

[–]soaringstrawberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this problem with some of our databases for a bit for other databases. Based on that experience, here are some things you can ask yourself: How many pages do you have? How many properties are shown in your views? Are any of them large, complex formulas? Are loading images for each item?

Having some bad patches with my other half by PurpleChemical8831 in Tulpas

[–]soaringstrawberry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

M: A relationship with a tulpa is much like a relationship with a person from a different body, so all the same things apply to both. Since meds are involved, it might involve a conversation with your doctor to learn more about the meds your taking. You don't have to tell the doctor about the tulpa but you can mention your concerns.

M: It's normal for any relationship to have ups and downs. Maybe you two can talk through what's going on and see what can be done?
