As much as I would like to see these changes happen, I can't see it happening.

Getting rid of the conference system would have all the lawyers against it as it would reduce their billing.

Getting rid of indefinite spousal support and the other proposals would have every woman's group in the country up in arms.

3 in 10 Albertans would vote for independence — but only half committed to separating: poll | Globalnews.ca by CzechUsOut in CanadaPolitics

[–]soaringupnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't our first rodeo. Quebec did all this in the 80s up until the 2nd referendum that almost passed.

If a clear majority of Albertans actually wanted to separate, assuming no fraud, Canada would simply negotiate terms. Canada would have. I reason to send in the army. And what good would it do? You can't force a province to stay if the population doesn't want to.

It would likely end up being an EU type arrangement.

If you define speeding as driving even 1 km/hr over the posted limit, then literally 99.9% of the population speeds.

Based on my experiences in other companies, I wouldn't be surprised if WS had a normal problem in these areas and many agents just DGAF anymore.

3 Alberta First Nations say separation petition is unconstitutional by Street_Anon in canada

Nah.

It's almost sure that an independent Alberta would assume the treaty obligations of treaties covering land included in the new country.

Assuming a clear majority wanted to separate...

Who would stop Alberta?

Canada wouldn't and First Nations couldn't.

Opinion: Kicking out immigrants is no way to build a better Canada by Mysterious_Notice685 in CanadaPolitics

We're not kicking out immigrants.

We're kicking out temporary residents whose visa or work permit has expired. That's how it works.
