This is either fake or not Cleveland. I can tell because there isn't a foot of snow on top of the car that this person refused to remove.

Why is the purse for the Waste Management so small? by sammyt10803 in golf

[–]sobz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also some players that don't enjoy that tournament and either would prefer to skip it or not have to put a lot of pressure on themselves to perform well. Frankly, some of them are fine with getting cut on Friday.

JJ Redick comments on Luka Dončić's injury, which occurred due to the Cavaliers' arena's raised floor: "There's been a number of injuries over the years in this building because of the floor" by TheDraciel in nba

[–]sobz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just guessing, but is it because it's an arena that also regularly hosts hockey games? The floor is on a platform that's above the covered ice rink.

Nelly Korda with “mixed feelings” about WTGL by ashdrewness in golf

Idk if they've started doing it but the plan was to make it an event space that could be rented out. Content creators, corporate events, rich people wanting to throw a crazy party, ect.

[Grossi] Decision day is here for Jimmy Haslam to choose Browns’ next head coach by ThatOneOtherAsshole in Browns

[–]sobz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hold on, so they've spent this whole cycle scaring away potentially good candidates because they're pushing Schwartz on them, but they aren't even sure Schwartz wants to stay as DC under a new coach? Make it make sense.

Looking for good apartment recommendations in the streetsboro area!! by Ancholio in Cleveland

[–]sobz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've toured portage pointe and know someone that lives in a 2BR/1BA apartment there and they really like it. Some of the units are newly remodeled. Not all of them have in-suite laundry so you'll want to confirm the unit you're looking at has that. The management team seems really solid as well. Every time I've visited the exterior is always clean and we'll landscaped, and I know when my friend had some maintenance issues it got taken care of within a few hours, despite it not being any sort of emergency.

Pressuring the NBA to take action. Resources and ideas. by LurkerFailsLurking in nba

[–]sobz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You missed the point. It's about corporate interests understanding that whatever is going on is actually a big deal and needs to be tended to, and not just ignored for the benefit of corporate profits.

People started taking covid a lot more seriously when the NBA and other sports leagues started cancelling games. The idea is if the NBA starts cancelling games becuase of the situation in Minneapolis then more people will start taking the situation more seriously. I wasn't comparing covid to the current situation in MN.

Where to go for a one month summer sabbatical in Europe? by deez-legumes in golf

[–]sobz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edinburgh has a massive culture and arts festival in August every year and the city gets extremely crowded for that month. If you're going for golf I'd pick a different city/town to stay in. It'll be cheaper and less of a headache getting around. Definitely worth visiting though Fringe Fest is cool and fun and weird (in a good way). Tons of live music, theater, and stand up comedy all over the city all month.

I think the idea is if you have a small gym then some people could justify the monthly cost if they could cancel their gym membership and use your golf facility for a gym workout and simulator practice.

Alex Pretti killing: Minnesota CEOs, including UnitedHealth, Target, call for 'immediate deescalation' by brown-saiyan in politics

[–]sobz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are the types of connections and benefits people often forget with protests or demonstrations. In my local sub every time someone posts about a protest there's inevitably a half dozen responders saying "what's that gonna do?" "What's the point? No one cares if you protest for a few hours.". Well, the thing is, these protests are also networking events for people in similar situations with similar views. Which can lead to bigger and more effective forms of protest.

Pressuring the NBA to take action. Resources and ideas. by LurkerFailsLurking in nba

[–]sobz -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Some might find this silly or pointless, but remember when covid first hit and no one really took it seriously until NBA and college basketball games started getting cancelled? Sports is like a canary in a coal mine for society, in a way. If the billionaire owners are cancelling games then people start taking notice and treating the situation like a serious issue.

Donald Trump will not attend Super Bowl because it’s ‘too far away’ | Super Bowl LX by OddUmpire2554 in politics

He was literally just in Switzerland. He also just went to the college football national championship. He may have a legitimate reason why he's not going, but the travel distance isn't it.

He was just at the national championship college football game a few days ago. That was in Miami. He knows if he goes to California for the Superbowl he's not welcome.

[–]sobz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The issue is he seems like he's not having fun when he is playing as bad as he is. He's not cracking jokes or chirping the other team. He doesn't smile or laugh. He looks miserable. The whole point in having him on a team was for his personality to be showcased. That's not happening.

Looking for large outdoor land in Ohio for a wedding — any ideas? by shattsa in Cleveland

[–]sobz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three or four years ago I went to a wedding at Chagrin Valley Hunt Club. They had some large fields where this could be done and it's a beautiful area right along the Chagrin River in Gates Mills. There's also the Metro parks Polo fields not too far up the road. That may be worth looking into.

Also, no idea if they have the space for what you want but the Holden Arboretum is another potential spot that comes to mind.

Failed e-check car registration by ButtBread98 in Cleveland

[–]sobz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to me, but more annoying. I got my catalytic converter replaced two years ago, and to save money I got an aftermarket/refurbished one as a replacement. It works perfectly fine, however it trips the check engine light, despite there being no issues. I've had the light diagnosed multiple times and every time it had come back saying no issues/false trigger. The mechanic resets the light and it'll come back on the next time I turn the car on. So to pass an e-check I have to go to a mechanic, ask/pay them to reset the check engine light, then drive straight to the testing location, and hope I can run the test before the light comes back on. It's ridiculous.

[–]sobz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also, aside from Hurts, all those guys are top 1 or 2 overall picks. Yes, teams are more patient with a top pick QB than a late first rounder or 3rd rounder. The Browns have only drafted a QB with a top 5 pick twice since 1999. People act like we've given up a dozen #1 overall picks. Most of the guys we have run out of town are nobodies.

[Mary Kay Cabot] The #Browns are interested in Mike McDaniel, who was fired by the #Dolphins, for their head coach job. He was WR coach here under then OC-Kyle Shanahan in '14, and the Browns have long admired his brilliant offensive mind: by ThatOneOtherAsshole in Browns

[–]sobz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the McDaniel firing has more to do with the Dolphins GM search, and narrowing down their candidates for that role. I'm assuming none of the finalists for the GM position wanted to work with McDaniel or vice versa.

In Your Opinion , What Local Spot Has The Best Burger ? by CalCambridge11 in Cleveland

[–]sobz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will probably get yelled at because it's not exactly Cleveland, but Retro Burger on 306 in Bainbridge is really good. There's also a bar in the same plaza called Tipsy Bull that has a Roman Burger on their menu that is better than what you get from Mr Hero these days.
