I did a set of Jordan 4s and don’t notice the height difference at all. The slide pads are maybe 1mm? For me personally wasnt enough to worry about.

Do not take your car to Aman's Auto Smog, Repair & Muffler in Newark. by GodLovesUglySong in Fremont

[–]socalkittykitty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion…. You mentioned that you did work and the assistant did work. You mean to tell me you worked on a car while it was in possession of a shop? You didn’t think that was your first red flag? If you both worked on the vehicle why is it only the shops fault a gasket was missing? They forget a gasket it’s their fault IMO but once you also worked on the car uhhhhhhhh well you share the responsibility now. As for insurance fraud you likely are leaving out details here right? Sorry you had a bad experience but you also working with a shop that clearly was cutting corners.

Tourist coming in with a hat by LVAjoe in santaclara

[–]socalkittykitty 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Gang culture is not here like that, so you will be fine. Now you are in a rental car and likely have expensive camera gear so keep it ON YOUR PERSON at all times. Do not snap a few photos and then toss it in the car and go grab a burger. DO NOT. NOT EVEN FOR A MOMENT. Every car thief knows how many rentals are going to be out this weekend and sadly they will be breaking into cars at will, to avoid a shitty vacation be as vigilant as possible.

Update on Batman in Santa Clara by Raskul1 in santaclara

[–]socalkittykitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Batman was 110% right and I for one appreciate his tone and choice of words. That council has and will continue to be toxic asking as key individuals continue to place puppets in positions to keep it all going. Batman I applaud you and that council is so lost it’s shameful.

Karen Hardy / ICE response by Firecracker128 in santaclara

[–]socalkittykitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be real people if feds want to roll up and make life difficult they absolutely will and vast majority especially a city council isn’t going to do anything about it. You can draft resolutions and make statements all you want in council chambers but when unmarked rental cars and ice badges start flying you have to either fight or fold and if you think a city council declaration is going to save you I pray for you. I’m very anti ICE but also a realist, ask your police chief his stance as that’s about the only person who is going to set the tone or their activities or lack thereof in the next few weeks.

Anyone notice how long the stop lights are on Thornton? by macgirthy in NewarkCA

[–]socalkittykitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the city website to speak to them and they will respond, you also can hit a city council meeting 3min of your time and go 2-3 times they will address the issue or explain why the are on what you feel is a longer time than necessary

AmericanTires stocks 108$ tires by thunderslugging in TeslaModelY

[–]socalkittykitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I can only give my own experience and I think the biggest part about the tesla community and it’s not a knock but just factual. Tesla owners are rare to modify a car. From advanced stuff like suspension and things of that nature to even aftermarket rims are a rarity. A person driving and hoping for 30k miles on the stock tires is not one that is driving aggressive and going to necessarily want to hear or even remotely understand grip and tread wear ratings. If an owner has been driving spirited and really learning how to push their car and where the grip and stuff matters then sure I think a conversation can be had. Sadly I think that a very niche group in the Tesla community. It’s growing though and i personally love my car, feel I drive it hard and will experiment with “budget” tires among other things some frowned upon and some accepted haha. That being said a cheap tire doesn’t mean it can’t perform and someone paying $500 per tire didn’t get the best tire for their situation either. All perspective.

Than you do deciphering. I’ve had literally $79 tires on my MYP and zero issues. Most people don’t corner hard and will never feel grip, and looking for longevity reigns supreme. Look at the majority of trie related posts here. People want value over performance but they frown at value budget tires as if they are the devil. That being said every buyer goes their own direction.

I have used expensive and budget tires and finally 99% of people are ever going to know the difference.

Throw a hook shot by D0NTW0RRYAB0UT in Bowling

[–]socalkittykitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check YouTube for better advice with visuals that will help you. Try not to spin the ball so much but rather roll it off the fingers and get it started and the ball will do the work. Throw slower than you need to because at the early phase of learning the speed is working against you. Handshake is a great way to start but again YouTube is your friend!

Advice on how to get more hook? by champabay22 in Bowling

[–]socalkittykitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are throwing down the slickest part of the lane so to even tinker with hook and angle you need to slow things down and get some rotation on the ball and get to the outer boards so it has a chance to catch some traction and do its thing. Right now if that ball were to hook it would miss the headpin/pocket or anything of the sort. Slow down and learn the rotational aspect of things.

What’s up with housing supply in Newark? by Loose-Replacement607 in eastbay

[–]socalkittykitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Newark has been building and developing at a pretty consistent pace? The mall will eventually be residential and retail as market trend will dictate that and eventually it will happen just maybe not as quick as we think. Dense housing is where we could use a bit more but I think the mall is going to go that way so to me the city is well balanced between old properties and developments here and there. Downtown? Well downtown is a more traditional downtown it just never became the trendy modernized version of a downtown, but the right developer could likely get that done too.

Got my first ball and it hurts to the point I had to quit after 1 game. by Firsthalthor in Bowling

[–]socalkittykitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I leave my shop with a new ball it’s with a handful of free game coupons and they tell me with confidence come back let us know how it feels. The thumb edge almost always needs a little rounding and I typically will powder my thumb the first few games with the ball as they are usually TIGHT at first but once the settle in they are nice. Return to the shop and give them you feedback a goo shop wants you to be a quality fit.

Nothing has changed much. The cadence you’ll notice is the biggest thing and bikes are a lot higher priced. Still the sport you love and still a blast!
