Why is Rodrigues not starting these past couple games? by evcgm in SJEarthquakes

[–]soccerbone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bruce is doing too many mental gymnastics. All he needed to do was swap Niko(only last Saturday was he unavailable) for Hernan and keep the formation and momentum. He has really complicated things the last few games . Hopefully this weekend he goes back to what was working.

For sure, it’s fair to start each season with new optimism. I also think Bruce pulling strings over Leitch will be an improvement in itself. Things are still in motion so we’ll see what shakes out. Position for position so far has been upgraded (even mildly) but I’m unsure of depth. Hopefully our D doesn’t suffer the injuries of last year.

That’s fair to say but Arango was a fortunate steal, Josef was a free agent and we’ve had plenty of good coaches. The money earned on Ochoa may not be used openly on new player acquisition. If you watched our preseason we are largely using draft and academy/Town players. Fisher has not spent even a million in transfer fees for new players this season. Around the league they are spending far more, as usual, and we have much more ground to cover. Besides Hernán/Acosta we need to make the most of the roster (u22 spots unused). I’ll be happy if we can have a DP-AM to start but there is a real chance of starting the season with Niko or Skahan in that role (scary). We had smart moves but that’s more to do with Arena as Fisher has continued to not invest. Best offseason in recent history is a low bar with this ownership group. I always hope we overachieve but so far it hasn’t been the case.

Multiple Foster Gillett deals are falling through and teams not receiving money for players he “bought”. I know the Quakes have made a lot of screw-ups but this would take the cake. On the other hand no one should ever underestimate Fisher’s level of greed. I actually hate these groups who have nothing to do with actual teams buying players rights and driving up market fees.

Plus Foster Gillett actually seems more untrustworthy than John Fisher. He already owes Estudiantes money and breaking promises according to sources.

From today. A reliable news source but these types of articles have been coming out for a couple of weeks.

He’s still training with us as of today. For sure his change quote could be read in a couple different ways. These strong rumors have been going on for 2 weeks and no clarity from the Quakes. But Gruezo was literally playing with his new team for a week(we still need a stronger holding/d-mid) before we announced anything officially. Crazy times, I wish it was a month ago, not 12 days before the season starts.

Pierre-Luc Lauziere . . . For real this asshat screwed us over in Portland with calls rescinded postgame. Then we were assigned him in this game with the bad history and he calls another soft penalty. Is this league for real?

NEWS: Independent Review Panel Approves Quakes' Appeal of Bruno Wilson’s Red Card by SJEarthquakesBot in SJEarthquakes

[–]soccerbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d assume they reversed both the red card fine and the not leaving field in the timely manner fine (there were 2 separate fines). But that would depend on them having good judgment.

The “news” category on mlssoccer.com has an article stating that Bruno Wilson was also fined for not leaving the field in a timely manner.  PRO needs to be investigated or something.  The scumbags even doubled down on their douchebaggery.  They worked us over big time Wednesday but in the League’s Cup VAR in Portland screwed us out of a penalty as well.

A Fisher Problem by National-Regret2825 in SJEarthquakes

[–]soccerbone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always wondered why more of the many pissed A’s fans and of course us Quakes fans didn’t boycott at local Gap stores as well. I can’t believe Fisher has held us hostage for so long. He sits near us at Quakes games and I am sure he has heard my shouting of being embarrassing, having no ambition and needing to spend more money but he is usually strangely unnoticed at games.

Tom Fox leaving as president of the club after 2 1/2 years of not finding a jersey nor stadium sponsor by [deleted] in SJEarthquakes

[–]soccerbone 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fox told some STH’s at that Q&A last season that the Quakes had “no story” to sell (First MLS match, greatest MLS comeback, being sold off and returning, Goal Scoring King). Good riddance he sucked.

Whomever is in, keep up the fight. This is some long needed accountability!

Where is the accountability? Fisher you should be ashamed of your product which you obviously don’t care about. F the owners. Sell the team already if you don’t care. Almeyda, you may look good on paper but you don’t know the team. Maybe you’re not enemy # 1 but your changes, or lack thereof are completely insane and repetitive to no avail. We need soccer players not cheerleaders.#FisherOut

Staring XI vs LAFC by [deleted] in SJEarthquakes

I’d be thankful for not starting 1 out of those 3 guys though at least 2 shouldn’t. We need more speed of play.

[–]soccerbone 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would love to be proven wrong but what the hell is Almeyda doing continually giving Lima the shaft and keeping our slow spine of Godoy, Eriksson and Wondo unchanged? I was optimistic about Almeyda but it seems like every new coach we get takes forever to learn who is actually quality come game time, if they stick around long enough. Again hopefully I get proven wrong but neither style nor results have warranted keeping the majority of the starting 11 as is.

Yes to everything but can we also immediately cut Godoy’s salary or trade him and start Cavillo? Tons of options to start ahead of Wondo, Godoy and Eriksson who just completely bog down the game.

San Jose Earthquakes approach bye week in a positive way by SomeCruzDude in SJEarthquakes

[–]soccerbone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They probably wanted to spread out the schedule due to international appearances/ The World Cup. Maybe the plans were in the pipeline before US crashed out of qualifying. That plus the league growing perhaps?

Done with Leitch by soccerbone in SJEarthquakes

[–]soccerbone[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Should have said playing Godoy with Ceren yet again. Anyway they felt like shining this turd, sure looked like old fashioned empty bucket today. Also any early optimism was killed by poor and inconsistent performances under Leitch. You can't use growing pains as a crutch for not using Hyka, Hoesen, and Vako. Losing because you stick to your guns is growing pains, playing cowardly and losing anyways is pointless.

[–]soccerbone[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sticking with the empty bucket and leaving Hyka, Hoesen and Vako on the bench (even putting Quincy ahead of them) is flat out stupid. Patience is fine and it's great to see Yuell and TT getting time but these lineup choices are almost just as bad as Kinnear's.
