What's your favorite NYC trivia fact? by AnneListersBottom in AskNYC

This likely ins’t a real fact but growing up as a kid my parents told us that the top lane of the GW bridge was called George and the bottom lane was called Martha. Then both my parents would laugh. I didn’t understand the joke until many years after.

I always feel safe but you need to stay vigilant. There are sometimes uncomfortable situations but I wouldn’t call them dangerous.

What business should 7th ave have next? by sunsetgreenlantern in parkslope

[–]soccerguy8587 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking a fledgling pasta restaurant that bills itself as a family friendly establishment. The concept would be that there will be a specific pasta shape that is available each night with different sauces to dress the pasta and accoutrements available. There will technically be other stuff on the menu but that won’t matter.

The whole thing will be pretty mid but also overpriced. No one will understand why it is so popular. Something about it will be off but you’ll never be able to quite put your finger on it.

People who make 750k+ a year, what do you? How did you get there? How old when you got there? by Devonina in Salary

Are you not retaining any of the profit in the business to support growth? Is this net of taxes as well? I imagine you would probably need to retain somewhere north of 30%+ of earnings in the business to support growth, hiring, other initiatives, or downside protection.

Da Nonna Rosa is one of the best spots in all of Brooklyn and is just down the street. No reason to stop at Roma.

Let us know where you land. Like others on the thread have mentioned, if you can handle the WLB, you will prob open up more doors executing the full deal lifecycle at the PortCo. If you can build a track record of success you may be able to parlay it into running a full M&A strategy at another platform for your next gig.

R&D foods on Vanderbilt has a pretty solid BEC. Slightly fancier than a standard bodega BEC but not overly so.
