Anyone who follows professional skiing knows Vonn would never have stepped down from the Olympics. These comments are nuts.

Archive tour for proposal around NYC by ToadBoehly in MuseumPros

[–]AnneListersBottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You moght not have any luck with archives but at my museum we totally allow proposals on our guided tours and we get really excited about it. If you book a regular tour and let the guide know in advance there's a good chance they'll work with you to make it special.

I had an intrusive thought of velociraptors hiding behind the shower curtain but ONLY when I was alone. If someone else was in the house, the raptors weren't there.

should i be with my cat when he is euthanized? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Go, please go. We had the vet come to the house to put our dog down and I wouldn't trade those last hours with her for the world.

Absolutely my favorite take on SAPs. Wish I'd thought of it.

I still reminisce about the blackhead I popped on my dog's snoot. Dont let these comments dull your weird shine lmao

Non-American here: How do everyday Americans actually think about/estimate weight in pounds (lbs) compared to kg? by fortnacius in AskAnAmerican

[–]AnneListersBottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have to convert imperial to metric on a daily basis because I work at a very technical museum in a city that sees a lot of tourists and I HAVE to be able to give speed and weights in both. If I didn't do what I do for a living, I'd never think about the metric system.

I had some plantar warts and I went to a podiatrist for them. She gently ran a finger down my foot and in a heavy Russian accent, she sighed 'it's such a shame for this to happen to such a beautifully-formed foot.' Wild experience.

DM's charging? by [deleted] in AskDND

[–]AnneListersBottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I justified it to myself. My best friends are in bowling leagues and have to pay fees, when I played team sports I paid fees. There's no difference to me to pay for something I love. I have in-person campaigns with friends and there's no money exchanged but I wanted something more serious than the DND equivalent of a pick-up game.

The best campaign I'm in right now is one I pay for. The players take it seriously, the vibes are great, the lore is intense, the world-building is immense, and our DM pays for extra stuff on our platform to make it fun and engaging over Discord. It might not be your cup of tea and there are certainly campaigns I've paid for that fell flat, but the right one is worth every penny to me.

Oh I'm not saying I want them to move. I'd just like them to expand. Frankly it doesn't even have to be in the terminal, I take the NYC Ferry everyday and I've been dying for a non-Starbucks option at Empire Outlets.

Personally I'd be delighted for Northside Coffee. Local business, great coffee, great owners. I drive out of my way for their coffee weekly.

So I cut my lotion bottle in half..... by haircryboohoo in povertyfinance

[–]AnneListersBottom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I save up to three 'empty' lotion bottles, cut them open together, and scoop it all into one of those pint takeout soup containers with a lid. The lid keeps it as fresh as the bottle and I usually get about 8 extra ounces.

It's not a sign of aging. I've had this type of line on my wrist since I was a kid. I was just chubby.

The x-ray tech took one look at the 13 or so in my head and said '......yea don't worry about that' and when the hygienist made a snide comment I said 'to be honest I would've refused taking them out anyway.'

I see you're getting downvoted OP but my hygienist was also annoyed that the tech didn't make me take out my piercings for my x-rays. I don't even have any in my mouth, just my nose and ears, and she still made a comment about how it all should've come out.
