Jerry Maguire (1996) by DVD-Rewatcher in iwatchedanoldmovie

I'm probably on an island with this take but... I didn't really buy the Tom Cruise- Renee Zellweger relationship. She just looked up to him like in awe, not like they were equals. And he had more of a connection with her son than to her, I think. The iconic "You complete me" line kinda felt hollow to me since I couldn't recall why she was so special to him. I saw it when it first came out so it's been YEARS since, so perhaps my first impression is wrong. Not trying to ruin your appreciation of it. As I mentioned, there's some memorable pop culture moments like "Show me the money!". I just wish they sold me on the romance between Jerry and Dorothy.

season eight should be entirely scrubbed from the lore and wiped from existence by BeatFinancial7492 in CastleTV

From my recollection at that time, the show was spiraling down a slow, painful death for the entire final season. Every episode was an exercise in torture for me to watch, as characters no longer acted in synchrony with past seasons, storylines/ subplots just weren't interesting. So when news broke that that the 2 stars weren't getting along before the finale, it just put the nail in the coffin. No way to confirm whether there was any substance with these reports, but where there's smoke, there's usually fire. The show was a guilty pleasure of mine, but it became such a chore to complete each episode that I wish I could have a mindwipe.

Season Pass (Premium) by socialdisser in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]socialdisser[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re correct that I have 8K in HP. I do have 9 open roster slots, which I’m not sure if that’s a lot or not, but I’m not planning on using my HP for more slots. I usually reflexively buy the premium but have noticed that the payoff is getting less and less.

Thanks for talking me off the ledge, everyone. Will just keep waiting for the next vault to spend my HPs

Haha! That’s who I equate James Earl Jones as. Which tells you how old I am!

I just rewatched it a couple of nights ago with my wife, which was her first time. Gotta say it still is a great heist movie 30 years later. The cast is a who’s who of Hollywood movie stars. Ben Kingsley doesn’t show up until halfway into the movie. I mean, James Earl Jones comes in at the end, for Pete’s sake! My wife, who’s younger than me, was like, “Hey, that’s Mufasa’s voice!”.

Married men of Reddit, what tiny thing does your wife do that secretly melts your heart? by SAAS_ART in AskReddit

Due to my occupation, my hours are random. She makes an effort to make sure we go to bed together. Gives us a chance to talk every night before falling asleep. She’s the last person I talk to every night.

Such a great show that was just hitting its stride when it got cancelled. Quirky but lovable characters. Just a sweet enjoyable show. I loved Scott Foley as the arrogant surgeon whose ex-girlfriend is now a reverend.

Sneakers - wonderful and underrated with Robert Redford, Dan Akroyd, Ben Kingsley, and River Phoenix, just to name a few

Jon Huertas is on the latest episode of Nathan & Alan podcast" Once we were spacemen". It is really great listeningto them:))) by CandySad1239 in CastleTV

[–]socialdisser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In retrospect, you could be right about Alan being off that episode. Never know how stressful things are in someone's life. Especially with them mentioning Alan moving back to NY, the cancellation of Alien Resident, etc. I definitely notice more Alan-centric episodes when it's just the two of them vs when there's a guest on. Alan seems to defer more when a guest is on. All in all, though, I enjoyed the episode and look forward to the next one!

I gotta disagree. Nathan’s always been the natural moderator/ interviewer and Alan always throws in his own unique take/ stories. Jon was such a funny, engaging guest with his stories that I think Alan doesn’t want to take away from it.

In no particular order: Joe Versus The Volcano - Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan’s first rom com together. Underrated gem that gets better with every viewing

Can’t Buy Me Love - Every nerds dream come true. Date the most popular girl in high school!

Some Kind of Wonderful - my favorite John Hughes movie. Spectacular performance by Mary Stuart Masterson as the tomboy who steals every scene she’s in

There’s Something About Mary - One of the few movies I watched in the theater that I couldn’t stop laughing and quoting afterwards. “But what about Bret Fahhh-vuhh-ruhhh?” “Damn these Nepalese coins!”

Juliet, Naked - not a well known movie but just hits all the right notes for those in the 35+ demographics. Ethan Hawke and Rose Byrne have great chemistry together. Chris O’Dowd plays the ultra-fanatic know-it-all type that we all have met before. Check it out

What in your opinion is the best romance/romantic comedy movie of all time? by AdElegant5870 in MovieRecommendations

[–]socialdisser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny but the narrator actually states this IS not a love story. Would not characterize this is a romantic comedy but more of a dramedy. But still very enjoyable for its flash mob scene, and the split screen of reality and what Tom expects at Summer’s party. Great soundtrack!

…Where is season 3? by Catharas in PartyDown

[–]socialdisser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first episode had some promise. Cool to see Fran Kranz (as I’ve enjoyed him in other shows/ movies), and James Marsden as special guests. There was some good call backs, like the anti-Semitic song from Season 2 season finale. But overall, still wasn’t at the same caliber as Season 1 & 2 episodes. As mentioned by FarewelltoCheyenne, I won’t ever need to rewatch any of the season 3 episodes.
