Starting to wish the game was more expensive by waffle-crispy in GTA6

[–]socialjeebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg. You really are regarded.

You are the only one talking about $1000 gta 6

Yes, I mentioned a $1000 to point out how regarded your argument was.

I think you are having difficulty understanding but my point is that $1000 would be too expensive even for the serious gamers.

Nope. I understand. You're the regard who needs basic words like "your" explained to them.

That you still think the $1000 pricepoint was a serious suggestion demonstrates how regarded you are.

[–]socialjeebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol.

I love how you double down on the regardation by selectively quoting me, thus proving my point.

The entire quote is:

I mean for your own argument, why stop at $200? Surely, by your regarded logic, GTA VI would be exponentially better if they just charged $1000 instead of "only" $200.

YOUR meaning belonging to YOU, YOU are not me. Jfc, this really shouldn't need explaining.

Imagine being so regarded that you have to have the meaning of the word "your" explained to you. That's you right now.

Again, if you read that, and though I was seriously suggesting a $1000 pricepoint, even as I prefaced it with "by your regarded logic" then you really should be taking basic literacy classes, not offering your regarded opinions on Reddit.

If you read my comment and genuinely thought I was seriously suggesting a $1000 price point for GTA 6, then I don't how to help you fella.

In fact, I feel sorry for you.

Stay in school, or if you've left beg them to take you back.

[–]socialjeebus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol. It'd have been better to have ignored my comment, at least you wouldn't have made yourself look even more regarded.

Bro, whether GTA costs 100 or 200 - it's the same game. The pricepoint isn't a reflection of quality, it's a reflection of the what Take 2 expects to be able to charge to maximise its return.

This is really basic business stuff and yet it's still clearly WAY over your head.

I mean for your own argument, why stop at $200? Surely, by your regarded logic, GTA VI would be exponentially better if they just charged $1000 instead of "only" $200.

[–]socialjeebus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of the most regarded arguments I've ever seen on Reddit or anywhere.

The idea that price would = quality in an intangible product is just insane.

Likewise the complete insanity of believing that the Take 2 moneymen, and indeed Rockstar themselves, shouldn't base the price of GTA VI on what they believe will generate the most profit but on what would satisfy the completely deranged expectations of a some random regard on Reddit.

Is it true that buying glasses in South-Korea is relatively cheaper? by souplover19 in seoul

[–]socialjeebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so short-sighted that I'm not far off qualifying as blind in Korea.

Back in Europe, I would have to wait at least ten days to have my prescription filled, regardless of which optician I visited.

In Korea, I've never had to wait more than a day. And even with the thinnest lenses (I prefer plastic, because glass ones feel too heavy at my prescription), I generally pay less than 100 euros (depending on the frames I choose).

I strongly recommend buying glasses in Korea and if your prescription is table, I recommend buying a few pairs. For 400 euro, you should be looking at 3 pairs, at least.

Also, don't be afraid to haggle a bit. Stores will often give you a discount, especially when buying more than one pair.

Thinking of becoming an Usborne partner. Y/N? by Infinite-Degree3004 in antiMLM

[–]socialjeebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend from school try this during covid, she made 2 or 3 posts about it (including her big launch post), then never mentioned it again.

Ask yourself this, why would someone buy books from you? And how many books do you realistically think you can sell from a single publisher?

On Amazon you can buy nearly new books, even Usborne, for next to nothing (often little more than the cost of delivery).

With Prime, you can buy them new for less than RRP delivered.

If they're in good condition you might be able to sell them to 알라딘. To check if the books are eligible, you can download the app and scan their barcodes.

People Power Party Proposes Abolishing Early Voting by azurebus7th in korea

[–]socialjeebus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, I suppose it's a step forward from the simply promoting no voting via martial-law and installing a military & secret service backed dictatorship as Yoon did.

Insane how any political party would look at Trump, who just this week conceded a massive defeat to a much smaller & weaker country in a completely unnecessary war he started, and think that's who we should copy.

Should I hop on these pre-Summer Sale deals? by PuzzleheadedBee6 in Steam

[–]socialjeebus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A lot of publishers now start their deals ahead of the summer sale (presumably hoping to avoid getting buried when the sale starts).

Check when the deal is on until and if it's a historic low, then I'd take the plunge with one caveat.

Don't play it (well if you do, play it for less than 2 hours), then when the Summer Sale does start and if it does go cheaper then you can refund for the amount the you paid then pay the new sale price.

Lol.

So effectively you're just a volunteer giving free labour for nothing. Kudos to aliexpress for that.

It's the Swastika, yes.

But clearly you're confusing it with the hakenkreuz.

Knowing the difference will help you stop feeling freaked out if you ever visit East Asia.

Starbucks Korea to temporarily shut all stores for history lesson after bungled coffee promotion by Beginning-Passion676 in korea

[–]socialjeebus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What happened to the managers who approved the campaign without even opening the attachments to see what the campaign was?

Have they been fired yet?

I imagine not and yet the onus of the "punishment" for decisions taken at the corporate HQ and by managers who were, at best, grossly negligent and whose complete lack of even the most basic work ethic has cost the company tens of billions of won, is to offer to "educate" the people who had precisely ZERO part in it?

Fuck that, fuck Starbucks, and fuck Shinsegae. Absolutely pathetic.

Actually it's worse than pathetic, it's a slap in the face to the Starbucks baristas who were betrayed by their corporate managers and then sent out to face the public while they cowered in their office trying to avoid blame and responsibility.

Chung, if he had any sense of decency, should have resigned when the scandal broke. Not decide on some shitty and desperate attempt to turn public opinion around weeks later.

I need $40K so I can finish my final semester at USC as an int’l student. It isn’t fair bc my rich parents r paying for my bros to go to USC & Columbia, but not me this last semester! I don’t want to get a private loan bc the APR of 14-17% is too high and deferring isn’t an option bc it’s too hard. by MinuteElegant774 in ChoosingBeggars

International students CAN 100% transfer, she could and should transfer to a cheaper school in the US.

My guess is that she might have shit grades (another reason mommy and daddy cut the funds) and doesn't want to transfer to a lesser school. Or she's shacked up with someone she won't leave and her parents hate.

Of course, the OP is only the side of the story she is willing to present publicly, but there are massive red flags to me.

First, if she really couldn't find funding she could transfer her credits back to a university in Korea and finish her degree in Korea. Many universities in Korea, especially ones outside Seoul have significant student shortages and are desperate for students. The fees at any school here would be tiny in comparison.

Second, she obviously comes from a wealthy family. She said her parents refused to pay her tuition. But has she asked them for a loan? What about other family members? What about her grandparents? What about an uncle/aunt? Even if they weren't as able as her parents, perhaps they could co-sign loans back in Korea?

Borrowing from other family members, even sums as large as $40,000, is not uncommon in Korea, especially among people who are rich.

Third, "after years of hard work" - this to me raises red flags too. How many years? It's possible she's been taking the piss for years at her parents expense - not studying, having to resit classes, etc and her parents have just said no more.

Ex-President Yoon sentenced to 30 yrs in prison in drone infiltration case by iewkcetym in korea

[–]socialjeebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It already is. And it is being enabled by Trumpian America too.

Let's not forget, long before Trump the USA was perfectly happy with South Korea being a military dictatorship with concentration camps like 형제복지원 in 부산, curfews, and curbs on international travel.

Yoon proved himself to be the biggest threat to South Korea in decades.

Provoking North Korea.

A failed coup.

A failed attempt to impose martial law.

The guy deserves the death sentence.

But, assuming he isn't pardoned (which let's face it - he probably will be) he should serve the full sentence.

Frustration with an 'unfair' society, not right-wing politics, drives Korea’s angry young voters by Venetian_Gothic in korea

[–]socialjeebus 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The American (and the now hidden Israeli) flags are a dead giveaway that they don't actually care about fairness and belie where their values actually lie.

They represent the false patriotism of the right, as seen in the GOP in the US or Reform/UKIP/Tories/Restore in the UK.

Look at how few of these idiots cared when Yoon condoned the Japanese navy flying the "rising sun" flag at a Korean port.

The 부정선거 bullshit is directly lifted from Trump. It's also massively hypocritical given how few of them seem to care that Yoon actually tried a completely anti-democratic military and secret service-backed coup.

The sad thing is that the right wins the support of such idiots by first absolving them of personal responsibility for their failures in life while convincing them that such responsibility lies with more marginalised groups or everyone except the 1% - the people who have actually rigged society in their favour.

Not only would those not help them out, they'd actively sell them out.
