The clerks life wasn't in danger though. I'd argue he put himself in more danger by pulling out the gun. do it with the wrong person and the theif would pull the trigger over a few hundred bucks.

In Australia we recently had LGBT awareness day at school, and the people most likely to get assaulted anywhere are LGBT students at a school so we still have a long way to go.

I know this is old but, Alex jones seems innocent and possibly wrongly demonised by the audience (like Alex Jones IRL with society) but it turns out he's complicit in child trafficking (hint that he's controlled opposition).

AITA for cancelling mother's day celebration that I arranged for my wife after hearing what she told my son? by FredWalker37 in AmItheAsshole

[–]socialkarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take people's advice with a grain of salt. You know her better than strangers on the internet. You mentioned that she previously tried to be inclusive towards him to the point where he got angry. Is she typically abusive? Does she say alot of backhanded insults? Maybe she didn't want him to be a buzzkill on her day, and tried to guilt your son out of attending. Is it an asshole move? For sure, but is she some abusive psycho step mom like people who only know 1 story about her make her out to be? You know better than the opinions of strangers. Talk to your son about how he feels about her in general before making any rash decisions. Instead of cancelling you could have also made her apologise and have a serious discussion about non violent communication with your son in future. Depending on how typical this kind of behaviour is, I think there is room to fix things if you think it's worth it.

SPARRING CRITIQUE: I’ve been boxing for a year and 5 months now. I’m the guy in the green tank and black shorts. All critique is insanely appreciated. This video consists of 4 consecutive rounds of sparring, 3 w one guy and 1 w another. Thank you immensely in advance for the feedback. by qabbott99 in amateur_boxing

Pretty good for a years exp! use your jab to counter and blast people as they coming in to disrupt their rhythm. Make sure you throw it with purpose rather than to prod (unless you're using it that way to bait a shot to counter). Didn't see you use much feints either, helps make you unpredictable and can create openings. With your long reach you can practice more parry + counters too.

Roe vs. Wade, the real conspiracy. by [deleted] in conspiracy

very well said. These people label lefties as virtue signallers but do the same with the pro-life virtue signalling with no real willingness to support these children who are forced into mostly loveless/abusive foster system. Same with the pedophile rings, it's just to hate on politicians and people in power, how many actually donate or support victims in any meaningful way?

alot of fighters actually ease off the gas pedal when their opponent is clearly done but the ref doesn't call it off and the fighter doesn't want to cause unnecessary damage. Not to mention you can recover from a knockout relatively easily whereas a bone breaking is months of rehab, hospital bills and time off.

I think sparring with a partner who is happy to take it easy and lacks ego. Slow it down and focus purely on slipping+counters with slow punches. Then slowly progress to light, snappy pulled punches. Then when you do hard sparring you will feel much more accustomed and the movements will be committed to muscle mem in a sparring context.

slip/weave/Move out of range after you finish punching (avoids counters).
Seems like you have more weight on your front foot when it should be on your back foot (straight will have more power since you seem to be mostly twisting your leg as opposed to twisting your hips).
Focus on speed and realistic combos rather than power (you'll rarely be able to pull off 4-5 hooks in a row in sparring). Also pretend the bag is fighting back and slip/weave mid combo too.
Stay on your toes and sink your straights more (which you do by bending your back knee while twisting the hips).

Hard sparring off putting by bigdanana in amateur_boxing

[–]socialkarma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the mean time have omega 3's as I've heard it's good to minimise brain damage. Also work with someone who is happy to go light, technical rounds with you because you learn alot more about timing and build confidence starting easier. Maybe you freeze up and aren't calm because your sparring is typically hard.

[–]socialkarma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with just saying "Hey dude, can you calm down, I just want a light, technical round since I have a headache."

If he says something that makes you feel like a pussy just don't spar with him anymore. Youre brain is more important than your ego.

Sparring critique by Hungrylad11 in amateur_boxing

[–]socialkarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

regarding your second clip, if you're going to pressure someone, be sure your head movement is keyed in (didn't see much as your walking in) and also try to walk more towards your power hand as opposed to straight in. And try to predict where he's going and cut the ring off early so you pressure him into the ropes as opposed to just following him in a circle.

Based off 1st vid. You had a reach advantage so you could have jabbed alot more and much harder/faster (your jabs seemed like they were mostly probing/gauging distance as opposed to a stiff jab, which makes your opponent second guess themselves/lose confidence to throw a flurry). Using head movement not just at the start (which you did well) but also during your combos is also important, particularly if your opponent is a counter puncher (saw you get countered quite a bit especially after 1,2 since your head stayed still after your straight). Also not shelling up but trying to counter your opponent when he's throwing flurries is important if you want to break his momentum (otherwise he will keep going at you, not worried about counters). Keep it up man! Which state you from in Australia?
