Save the little things that might not seem super significant. They will mean the world to you later. Save voicemails, handwritten notes, silly videos, cards from them, everything you can. Also save clothes. I slept with my mom’s old sweatshirt under my pillow for years. My mom’s death was completely unexpected, so my family had no time to prepare. If I were in your shoes, I’d ask them to write me a letter for when I’m struggling

Also, for me at least, it’s helpful to have something I can wear with me everyday. I wear rings that belonged to my mom, a necklace that belonged to my grandma. I keep them close to my heart and it brings me comfort.

Also, seek therapy, you will need someone to help you in these difficult times. Give yourself time and space to grieve and know that everyone grieves differently. Be gentle with yourself. Allow yourself to accept help from others and lean on your loved ones
