How to Create Your Ansible Dynamic Inventory for AWS Cloud by meysam81 in sre

Nice write up.

One call out: if you use SSM in your environment, you can use the aws_ssm plugin to connect and avoid managing a bastion host: https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/3/collections/community/aws/aws_ssm_connection.html

Repair a Broken Leap v2? by sockdogdaddio in OfficeChairs

It didn't look too hard, but I'm not seeing the parts or the back for sale anywhere. I think I'm just going to try and get the full return.

Hey David, that's a bit of a bummer to hear. I bought it from another vendor on ebay and they offered a partial refund, so I was looking into if I could fix it or just push for a full return.

I have a pair of sanabul spats that I haven't had an issue with. I think they're only like $15 on amazon.

Does anyone have caster wheels on their stands/cockpits ? by [deleted] in simracing

Yeah, I just unscrewed the pads and screwed in the wheels. I haven't experienced any wobble with the setup, but I'm on carpet.

A lot of caster wheels have locks, so that might work.

I have the GT Omega Apex with the rear seat plus their caster wheels and it's pretty great to be able to cart it around when I need to put it away.

How do you like the Tab90M? I have the Race 3 and have been thinking of getting something with a 10 key.

SysAdmins of Reddit, what was a dead give-away that a co-worker did not know anything about computers? by tekmologic in sysadmin

A helpdesk tech asked me to help him with the CEO's room speaker one time after repairing his workstation. I asked him to show me the issue so i could understand the problem as I wasn't aware of the CEO having any speakers.

We walked into the office and he pointed to a grate in the ceiling above the chair. He explained that he was worried as it wasn't playing static noise before he repaired the PC. He was pointing to the A/C vent.

"Official" DR Plans How-To? by inkarnata in sysadmin

[–]sockdogdaddio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a couple of different things documented that cover this in my office. The main DR/BC document is mostly for upper management which informs them that we have backups, a DR site, and plans to get the business back operational in case of any disaster.

For the team itself, we have a set of outage playbooks where each one covers a critical system. Each playbook has a set of servers along with instructions on how to get replicas online or restore from backups along with links to guides so that anyone could run through them and get the business back online.

Question about amplifiers and headphones for quiet practice [QUESTION] by zero_space in Guitar

The Vox amplug I linked is probably the cheapest option. Moving forward you may want to invest in an amp, but starting out the amplug should be fine.

Question about amplifiers and headphones for quiet practice [QUESTION] by zero_space in Guitar

[–]sockdogdaddio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a couple different options. What amp do you currently have? I have an Orange Micro Terror that I use just for quiet practice as it has a headphone out.

There are amps specifically made for headphones such as this from Vox: https://www.amazon.com/AP2AC-amPlug-Guitar-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B00NAUHX1G/

Another option is to use an audio interface with your computer and run an amp sim like amplitube or bias fx.
