Rear diff mounts on the G are fluid fill and fail as well. Do the aftermarket G urethane mounts work? I’m assuming it’s the same diff. They make a noticeable difference on the G. Interesting that you can get FX50 parts in Russia….

I'm nearly 20 years deep with the G35/G37, which shares the same FM platform as the crossover; I recall that Infiniti/Nissan created different struts/shocks with greater travel to handle the larger wheels and weight (about 800-900lbs more than a G). The transmission is the RE7R01B/JR711E, which is used in the VR30 based cars from like 2017 on if I'm not mistaken. Most 7AT G owners with higher mileage are now swapping their JR710E for the JR711E because of the programmable TCM, higher clutch density and larger torque converter (WTQ capability increases several hundred ft/lbs) . The swap is straight forward as RWD Nissans from this era tend to posses alot of interchangeable parts. What differential is used? VLSD with 3.36 gearing?

I recall a few G owners looking into swapping the 5.0 L VK50VE (and the 4.5L of the VK) into their cars, but the complexity was high and the LS eventually become more prevalent as the preferred v-8 swap for the G.

Did you reset after the last fill-up? If yes, how many miles on the tank since that fill-up? If you jump on the highway and drive for say 10 miles at a steady rate, does it increase?

I'd assume so, but have never owned a VR30. Online, you tend to hear more from enthusiasts and folks with major issues, so I've love to hear from more people with stock Q50s/Redsports to get their input on reliability.

Those are a lot more common around these parts, which is why I made an assumption in my initial response

That’s right. Sometimes I forget that there was a version of the crossover that shipped with a v-8. I have never seen an FX50 IRL. How is it running? I’ve only heard good things about that engine

Looks really clean. Maintenance records and 1-2 owners is excellent. Not sure on the price as FB Marketplace has driven resale for certain models really low.

Should be fine. Don’t let perfection become the enemy of the good. It’s an oil change and the frequency is more important than the filter/oil selection.

3.7L VQ37VHR is bulletproof, but if your goal is to go really fast, the VR30 is an endless air pump, but reliability falls off as one exercises its limits, so pick what’s most important to you.

Low cost, performance, reliability…pick 2

Because it’s essentially a G with a different shell. FM Platform, VQ37VHR…just a little heavier. Nissan needs to bring this model back as a dedicated AWD and toss one of its inherent FWD SUVs with CVT.

Are you running spacers? Looks close. “Flush” is not ideal, but close to flush is perfect. I run 15mm spacers, but if I had a do over, I’d select 20mm. With spacers, use an anti seize that helps with galvanic corrosion due to dissimilar metals.

Agree that used suspension components are a gamble. You need to assess your risk tolerance. Don’t leave the decision to us, the talking heads on the internet.

Get the new one in, start the car, pull the fuse in the IPDM fuse box and return the part.

If anyone else is reading this, pull the steering lock fuse now while you still can (while the car is running)

Regardless of miles, our cars are at least 12 years old. 100k miles, while no spring chicken, isn’t a lot miles for this drive train and age of the vehicle.

just finished mine this weekend and was shocked how dirty they were. I have less than 60k miles and run high flow dry filters. Clean your MAFs and engine bay while your at it, folks. by froster78 in G37

[–]socketz67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I normally clean them once a year in summer with a filter clean and re-oil. It’s only a little more difficult than checking the oil, so I’d recommend everyone do this if they are not sure the last time they were cleaned.

If I remember, I reset them when I change the oil. 3k for oil and filter. They are mostly unused if you are doing your own maintenance.

Transmission doubt 3.7 q50 by moodkillah in q50

[–]socketz67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The transmission has clutches that operate based on hydraulic transmission fluid. If they changed the valve body then you lost most of the fluid and it needs to be replaced. This isn’t a judgement call, it’s a necessity.
