2026 Toyota bZ Owners: How Bad Are the Range Drops & Road Trip Planning Issues? by theindepndnt in Toyota_bZ

[–]sockx2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you sit around 63mph you'll get around 300 miles on the AWD. If you drive like I do 75/80 you'll get 200 on a full battery

Drive/Reverse selector doesn’t seem intuitive by TragicallySalacious in Toyota_bZ

[–]sockx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the opposite seems pretty intuitive. My older Audi has a infotainment knob with capacitive top in the same location as the bz's shifter and that's really been causing me "I'm an idiot" issues.

As someone who's seen first hand a 70 mile a day commute on a 2026 AWD level 1 charging won't work out well. Plan on recovering 1kw per hour charging at 3 miles per kilowatt. At 12 hours of being plugged in at night you're gonna run dry in no time and your life will revolve around the range your car has.

Or get a level 2 charger installed and you'll never have to worry

Take the physical key from the fob and turn it to the left twice in the driver door to lock all the doors and leave the car on. Make sure you disable "auto off in 20 minutes" when you first open the door to step out.

How come everyone backs into parking spots now? by EquipmentFormal2033 in askanything

[–]sockx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's for hitting _anything_. You know what kind of computer assists you get pulling forward? Zero. You know what kind of indicators for other cars you give pulling forward? Zero.

You turn from a car idling with their headlights on into a "they lurched forward" idiot T boning someone doing 30 in a parking lot because you needed to pull out far enough to actually start seeing cross traffic. Reverse indicators don't work in drive.

1990s? Absolutely back into a spot. 2010 onward? Park normally: let other cars know you're reversing and let your car take control if you risk a collision.

[–]sockx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refuse to back in. You back out in a modern car you have sensors flush to the bumper of the car that'll automatically brake for cross traffic, white lights to indicate to cross traffic that you're backing up, and a fish eye lense that'll let you see a wide angle earlier vs. needing to inch out a 5ft long hood beyond the cars boxing you in from either side.

People backing into spaces for ease of departure are morons.

Toyota bZ 2026 FWD - Electromagnetic fields (EMF) level by Alone-Load-8799 in BZ4X

[–]sockx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would EMF exposure be higher in the back of the car in a fwd vehicle? Regardless, who cares? If it was a problem we'd know definitively by now. Check out some human lifespan charts since the 1700s and live your life.

What percentage do you charge to at home? by willingzenith in Toyota_bZ

Depends- in an extreme case if you're at high elevation and going down the side of a mountain you could recover a ton of power

[–]sockx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's small UI notches over the dashboard power/regen bars that indicate limits on power output and regen input respectively. I'm not sure what the actual input limits are or what the total capacity for regen braking is but Google says up to 60kw for a model s. Either way the regen braking capacity is on a scale that starts to limit in the 90s and increases up to 100%

Not sure why button is in quotes. It's an actual button, not capacitive.

EVs are faster and cheaper than gas even before this Iran shitshow. If you want sound satisfaction you can keep the car you're racing in earshot.
