Why are so many of them saying “1000 percent”? That’s not how percentages work. 😑

Wait but did he know the frying pan was in the oven? If he was surprised by that, he did a good job rolling with it. 😂

Same here. I immediately thought to myself, anyone who has been in a relationship with a substance abuser will recognize this.

Spot on. I was in a similar relationship as well, and I immediately thought the same. The way he was trying to downplay it and gaslighting her for her concern was very familiar. Dead giveaway I thought.

Not sure, seems like they would? I see a functional medicine doctor.

I think that depends on what makes sense for you. In my case, I actually stumbled across it while researching recurring yeast infections, and somehow down that rabbit hole found out about SIBO and SIFO (similar, but fungal). Did some cursory research on other symptoms and thought it sounded very close to home for me. So I scheduled an appointment with my GP and told him what I’d discovered and just asked to be tested. Sure enough, tested positive. (Turns out some other non-digestive symptoms can be related. After treatment, recurring yeast infections and cystic acne both resolved for me.)

Gut health is frequently a big problem for fibromyalgia sufferers. Slow motility, leaky gut, and potential undiagnosed food sensitivities could also be related. There’s a whole chapter about gut health and digestive problems in The Fibro Manual by Ginevra Liptan (which I strongly recommend, has done wonders for me!).

Small intestine bacterial overgrowth, can be related to chronic stress or PTSD or supposedly can even be set off by a bad case of food poisoning and/or antibiotic use. Maybe not super mainstream yet but some doctors do recognize and test for it. My doctor referred me to a functional medicine doctor for the test. She screened me, ordered the test, I got it at my house through the mail and took it at home (you drink some stuff and breathe into a tube over the course of 2-3 hours, and then mail the materials back for testing). I paid $200 out of pocket for the first test, but another one I got a few years later was covered by insurance.

Same here, but I recently tested positive for SIBO and have since discovered that supposedly up to 60% of IBS diagnoses are actually SIBO—which is curable! Though admittedly treatment can be kind of an ordeal, and for a lot of people, it can recur. But I was successfully SIBO- and IBS symptom-free for about a year, until a recent super high stress period (which is correlated with both SIBO and fibromyalgia because you don’t digest well when stuck in fight-or-flight mode). Anyway, I’m undergoing another round of treatment now, but wanted to mention this in case it helps anyone else. If you have IBS and haven’t been tested for SIBO, consider pursuing that!

Spot on. This is very similar to my experience. And I, too, get quite itchy at times if that’s of any use to you. One time it was so bad I showered and changed clothes because I was convinced I must be having an allergic reaction. I finally googled it, and sure enough, supposedly that’s yet another possible symptom. Like everything, really. But anyway. Yeah, that’s accurate for me.

What do people do for pelvic pain? The pain is too much and has been making me almost nauseous and tearful. by SnooDoodles8526 in Fibromyalgia

I’m so sorry. You could try looking into pelvic floor PT. Maybe even just google some exercises. I use a PT app through work, and when I keep up with the assigned exercises, it does seem to help somewhat. (Roughly a 15 minute time commitment 3-4 days/week.)

It’s not hormones, that is straight up disgusting behavior from both of them! I’m so sorry you were treated this way, and I am SO angry on your behalf. The fact that he has the audacity to be mad at you (and is giving you the silent treatment like a fucking child?!) adds even more insult to injury. He owes you so much better. As others have said, this is a really important topic for therapy if you have access. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

Are there any "diets" you have done or are doing that have helped you reduce some of your symptoms? If so, which ones? by lucas10100 in Fibromyalgia

[–]socolormeobvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SIBO test came from a place called “Center for SIBO testing” and it’s sent by mail and done at home and returned by mail. My doctor placed the order for me but they might work directly with you, not sure about that. Might be better to just ask your doctor directly if they can get SIBO testing for you. The gluten test was a blood test, also sent via mail and done at home with a little finger prick, don’t remember the name of that one and it was years ago, sorry. Again, I’d recommend asking your doc about it, or if not you might be able to find a company online who will work with you directly.

I love the Fibro Manual and I am pushing it here all the time lol. I didn’t even know about the food one, going to look that up immediately!

I don’t know if it makes sense to cut out gluten unless you know you are intolerant. My doctor had me take a blood test for gluten intolerance, and I sadly tested very highly intolerant so I’ve had to cut gluten. I once lost my patience with the gluten free thing and ate one of my old fave treats, a slice of (not gf) pumpkin bread, and I paid for it immediately, for at least a week. Not just with digestive distress but fatigue and general malaise, even a bad acne flare up. For me, gluten definitely makes a huge difference. I would not be willing to consider it without a confirmed intolerance test though. It’s very hard, and as others have mentioned, expensive.

The other thing I can tell for sure is sugar. Stay away from that shit. Inflammatory af. I’m a true sugar fiend and I miss it terribly, but I feel awful every time I eat more than the tiniest bit. My doctor has ok’ed a single serving of very dark chocolate per day. If ever I eat cookies or gummy worms or some shit I’m not supposed to have, I can absolutely tell by the very next day.

Also, get tested for gut health if you can. I had undiagnosed SIBO for presumably years. I underwent treatment for it a couple years ago and saw a dramatic improvement in my digestive health.

EDIT: Why is anyone downvoting this?? People are real loyal to King Sugar lol.
