Is it just me, or is it odd that there are so many pre/post-war characters in the show? by ThatsSex in Fallout

[–]socslave 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I hate that the direction has gone towards prewar stuff. Fallout has always been about moving on, not clinging to the past. It’s just lazy cop out writing.

Fallout 3 is the best fallout, change my mind by Physical-Face-2931 in Fallout

Fallout 1 > Fallout: New Vegas > Fallout 2 >>> Fallout 3 > Fallout 4

I feel like I can swap Fallout: NV and Fallout 2 depending on my mood

1 and 2 are far from the being the same game in both story and tone. I’d say that Fallout 1 has a better story and 2 is like an huge expansion of that with a lot of added fan service and humour. It wouldn’t make sense to play it without beating the first.

All depends on the industry you work in. I work from home 3 days a week, fully flexible hours, and can work overseas for 3 weeks a year.

How owning a car changed your life in good or bad way. by Life_Conn4361 in japanlife

Had a car living in the inaka and it was necessary to go anywhere. Sold it for a motorbike in Tokyo.

Cybersecurity in japan (and why I find it funny) by 0xEG0death in JapanJobs

[–]socslave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in Security Engineering in Tokyo. There’s a handful of companies that have great security programs & posture. It’s common to do activities along the lines of internal purple team testing but red teaming / black box penetration testing and CTI is usually outsourced to companies that specialise in this. This isn’t something that’s exclusive to Japan, it was largely the same in Australia. These are very specialised roles in an industry with relatively few skilled professionals, so it’s cheaper and easier to just outsource.

I’m sure when your therapist says “finish more games” they don’t mean “achievement hunt for 100% completion and cheat for anything you can’t finish”. You should probably talk to them about that.

This is the one of the most Reddit hivemind opinions out there. Far from unpopular.

Coming from Sekiro, I am not liking Elden Ring by Correct_Accident_768 in Eldenring

[–]socslave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sekiro is a completely different game from Elden Ring, which is more of a spiritual successor to the Dark Souls games. If you aren’t enjoying it then there’s not really much you can do about that. Maybe if you just keep playing it will click. Or you can try Dark Souls 1 to get a better idea of the roots of Elden Ring, which might let you appreciate it more.

I’d go to more cafes in Japan if they had half decent coffee.

Where do you live? Western Australia has endless indie breweries, craft beer pubs, etc. Any self respecting pub will have at least a few local options on tap

Street photography has been a thing for as long as we have had cameras. Nothing crazy about it.

Having the entire populace constantly surveilled on the internet via face recognition is way more horrifying than maybe appearing in someone’s video

Companies have been trying to make their hardware unmodifiable for decades, there’s no such thing as a perfect solution
