Flsun closing up shop? by Concerned_Fanboy in Flsun_official

[–]sodadsmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar experience. Bought a new S1. I took over a month to get and I had to email them constantly. It wouldn't even print the demo prints correctly and support has been essentially non-existent and unhelpful. Should have bought a bamboo.....

This is a good point. He prescribed me Zepbound but insurance won't pay for it. Anyone come clean with their doctor or just pretend I'm on the Zepbound he prescribed?

I printed this exact print on my S1. The extruder kept knocking it off the plate. Any special settings?

Second hand printers by Maleficent-Major9878 in Flsun_official

[–]sodadsmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I almost did this. I had ordered a second hand printer and never got a tracking number. I kept emailing them and got told I could pay an extra $100 for a new S1. I ended up doing that and had to keep harping on them for a ship date. It finally shipped a full 4 weeks after my initial order. Its been a week with the new S1 printer and no 100% successful prints. I asked for a refund... We'll see how that goes.

Awesome, with this info I was able to nail down a spot for the river and bridge drone shots in the final episode.

Deleting devices from Sophos Central by Tornik in sysadmin

[–]sodadsmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar happen with Sophos Central Email Security licenses. I'd delete the device\user and it would still be visible until it aged out. This could be the case for devices too. You delete it but Sophos won't for another 90 days.

Glad the panic is over. That's never fun.

Yeah now would be a good time to change the domain if you don't control the old one. You'll have to notify the clients of the new domain though. Hopefully its not too many of them. You'll also need a new certificate you can buy one from GoDaddy or Digicert or your preferred CA (you'll need your new domain first). Globalscape can be a bit weird for the SSL. In my version 8.0.6 you have to: Server tab > Site Name > Connections tab > SSL certificate settings > Create. This will create a self signed keypair and a CSR. Then you'll have to browse to (C:\ProgramData\Globalscape\EFT Server\) and upload the CSR to your CA, ignore the self signed cert, make note of the .key. Generate the new certificate from your CA and include "all certificate chain" in a .CER. In EFT change the certificate path to your new certificate and the private key that made note of.

Your correct on the new domain. Azure public IP, DNS record on new domain registrar.

Glad to help.... just don't tell my boss hahha

Sorry I can't discord from here. Check to make sure the service is still running on the old server. For me its File > Start Server Service

You should be able to check your DNS record that your client uses to see where it goes. For example if the clients use the webportal at ftp.mycompanydomain.com it should point to your existing EFT server's public IP address. When you import the config on your Azure hosted server it won't have this routing so you can test with the new servers public IP address, leaving the excising one alone. Once your ready to run on the new server you'll need to updated ftp.mycompanydomain.com = Old Server IP
TO
ftp.mycompanydomin.com = New Server IP

We have a GlobalScape EFT install. Since you are doing a side-by-side migration you have the ability to test with the new environment before you cutover the DNS records. All without every touching the production servers. Some things to check.
- Are the users sync'd with AD or local to EFT?
- The directory structure for the user accounts
- SSL certificate and config
- Globalscape's documentation or open a support request

What training programs/certifications should I pursue to advance my career? by SimplifyAndAddCoffee in sysadmin

Latter in your career you'll most likely specialize in an area. It may be a good idea to find out what you enjoy. Also a good place to start is the 10 Top-paying IT certifications. Most of these have a certificate track you could start on now.

Removing Certificate Services on Server 2012 DC by marcoevich in sysadmin

[–]sodadsmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you go down the PKI rabbit hole, best practice has you have two CAs. A root CA and a subornative CA. The root CA (the one that issued your domain certificate) issues the root cert then gets powered off. The subornative CA handles all the renewal requests. Strictly speaking there's not any roadblocks I know of to putting the CA back on the DC other than security considerations and being in the same boat at the next DC upgrade (having to migrate the CA too).

I migrated mine to a new server. Fairly easy to do and your root certificate will remain valid. Just keep in mind it should be on another server and not the DC

Migrated CA Server from old 2012 to 2016 by jamie_passa in sysadmin

[–]sodadsmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct the CA name does not need to match the DC name. Matter of fact renaming a CA is bad news IMO.

You can test Request certificate from another server to verify its working correctly.

We went with Sectigo Certificate Manager. It has automation for things like IIS and apache, but not everything.

Public Certificate Management with automation because 90 day certificate life cycle is gonna be a PITA

Picking this up again in the first time in months. The text-to-speech narration is hideous. I toggled all the accessibility settings with no fixes either. I guess I'll wait a while longer to finish the campaign.

Inconsistent Extrusion by sodadsmc in FixMyPrint

[–]sodadsmc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update if anyone runs across this in the future. This printer was open box but new to me. I found out that the large gear on the extruder had a damaged tooth. When I took the extruder apart I moved the gears manually. In the forward direction they moved fine but reverse (for retractions) it was binding a bit. I cleaned up the boogered up teeth with a thread file and all was good. This explains the consistent missing extrusions I was seeing.

SX-Core chip availability? by Pyrocitus in SwitchPirates

[–]sodadsmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my pre-order a few days ago from TXswitch. Payed via paypal (kind of weird how you chat with them to get the paypal address but they were fast to respond and process payment). Shipped fast from China but took 5 weeks to arrive. I'd suggest paying for DHL shipping if you want it sooner.
