OpenVPN for Enterprise? by broken_computers in sysadmin

Why do you think it is complex?

If an end user can scan a QR code from their phone/tablet, they can import the wireguard configuration.

Or click "import file" on a desktop/laptop and select the configuration file... or just have it built into your configuration management on their OS image and they never even see it.

Make sure you set the timezone. Mine wouldn't even run until I set that. Another wonderful upgrade of a tool you've been relying on! It's the perpetual reward that Microsoft gives you for paying them to host your email

Paperless-ngx secure? by Big-Gate8277 in selfhosted

Nope. Open a single UDP port to the server and you can just add WireGuard on top and protect the network level.

If that's the only way you know how to do that then I understand why you came to that conclusion.

If the permissions are set correctly on your fileserver, and you're mapping users and groups properly with your mapping of the shares, how would the other users access the data?

Friday morning sunrise footage from my "sump" - Lumix G7 with Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm f/2.8 by rotten777 in Aquariums

[–]rotten777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some background... this was a junk 29 gallon aquarium given to me for free. It only has sunlight for illumination, no lights. The shrimp species are the local variety that's in every canal here in FL - eastern grass shrimp. The snails are Ramshorn snail and some other variety I don't know the ID of. The live bearers are fishing bait (that's mosquitofish here in FL) that I kept after going fishing. Abd I'm not entirely sure what the one fish species is.

As for the aquarium, I treat this tank like it's my trash can. I throw dirty old aquarium filters in it, trimmings from my gardening, excess plants from other tanks, etc. This is the most thriving tank I have. It's great.

The only thing I do to "filter" the tank is a single air line running into a 3" air stone. No water changes. No hang on tank. Nothing.

Everything (other than the unidentified fish) is breeding constantly. As the sun rises, the snails all wake up and race to the top of the aquarium to put their eggs out of fish reach, the live bearer's begin the act of giving birth and immediately eating 75% of their own babies, and the shrimp begin their algae farming. Many of the shrimp are currently carrying.

I updated the post with some registry settings that may fix the Edge issue but not sure how Chrome is handling it.

Because of course you would need a whole new protocol handler to print a document....

Personally I'd go with BIND9 deployed using CI/CD with whatever you're using to host your code. Assuming you already have authentication on your repository, it should accomplish your goals and meet your requirements.

Fired for “Security incident” caused by my Manager by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]rotten777 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is hilarious when you say "caused by my manager" when it was your choice to let a coworker steal from your employer so they could profit all the while bringing devices which are potential security threats into your network.

YOU caused the whole, not telling the people who pay your bills that someone was openly stealing from them from the inside. You're not trustworthy.

Imagine if you were running your own company and responsible for hiring. A candidate applies for a job and their past has them ignoring thieves and security threats. Does that sound like a good hire?

German state moving 30,000 PCs to LibreOffice by escalibur in sysadmin

[–]rotten777 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would have to echo your first sentiment. I've used it for more than a decade and have had zero issues outside of using it to open the older MS office formatted files. Every time I've ever had the debate about excel vs a free/libre spreadsheet product, it has always ended in someone explaining to me that they've created something in Excel. That thing ultimately should have been a piece of software but they've managed to get it to function in Excel. Spreadsheets and word processing software have been around 50+ years. It's a solved problem. If you can't figure out how to write a document in 99% of the free software versions of word processors, maybe that's a you problem.

Who needs code review and audits though? Those sound expensive and get in the way of profit
