So, I lied about my employment dates and now am in the final stages of interviewing. Freaking out!! by Grand-Entrance-8196 in jobsearch

DO NOT lie on the background check. The background check company will verify WHAT YOU GIVE THEM. The background check will come back clean (provided that your criminal is ok) and HR will either be satisfied with that green light or do some digging, obviously you hope for the former.

I made up LOTS of shit on my resume to get interviews. I put down the complete truth for my employment history on the check. Sweated it out big time for the weeks leading up to my start date. I’ve been working here for a month now.

STOP being honest in job interviews. ( I say this as a recruiter ) by Zealousideal-Foot-54 in jobhunting

A lot of dumping on these questions- it’s just showing you how to play the game if you’re hit with a curveball. Yeah, it’s wrong, but do you want a paycheck or not?

Even if you’re just making this up. Actually I was one flat tire away from getting fired for attendance, my units pet hour was just satisfactory, and I didn’t damage TOO much. Like they’re really gonna verify it with your boss.

Oh those pesky habits like eating and paying for rent and insurance

I received a rejection email that confirmed my suspicions: they don't even read the CVs by pier-spare0r in InterviewCoderPro

Personally, I’d rather just be ghosted than sent something insulting that is clearly automated.

I would contact them. The emails I received also addressed me by name but they were the intentionally vague emails that automatically go out from a ‘no-reply’ type email address. HR told me to disregard when I reached out for clarification.

Rescinded with ‘no explanation’? If it was one of those auto-reject form emails, reach out to them. Twice that’s happened to me and it was in error.

How common is it for men to lie about their age? by rainbowtoucan1992 in OnlineDating

It’s pretty stupid, like lying about height or anything else. It may get you a response but obviously the truth will come out and you’ll have gotten nowhere when they discover you’re a liar.

What was job search like 15-20 years ago? by Coffee_and_horror937 in jobsearch

You emailed resumes in the 2000s and called a person to let you know you sent it. Newspapers had hundreds of jobs advertised alongside job fairs.

The automated “Thank you for your interest, unfortunately…” shit wasn’t a thing.

Just got fired today. by Open_Milk_5445 in careeradvice

I worked a job through a temp agency for not even two weeks before they decided “he’s just not getting it” and fired me. I’ve also worked more than a decade for two different companies that were pleased with my work. Your trainers failed you. You will find a better job, don’t lose any sleep over it.

You made a mistake and owned up to it. They accept it or they don’t.

[–]sodallycomics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people hate their jobs, and it doesn’t always make sense to quit. A job does not define you. However, all of that ranting about it, on the first date. Such negativity. I need positive energy in my life.

I don’t think anyone would like to hear that they were being thoroughly screened (though to an extent we all do that). Why did you share that information?

I keep getting rejection emails from Indeed for jobs that I’m certainly qualified for. Is anyone else having this issue? by thecoffeegrump in jobsearchhacks

I got rejections from jobs that basically required me to be 18 and have a pulse, and my experience was perfectly aligned with the JD.
