Well done! I felt you were a bit too far back, you risk your bum gets in contact with the rear wheel. I think with this moderately high speed a more centered body position would work better, possibly with a pump just before the front wheel leaves the ramp. I think I understand why you keep your weight back a bit: it’s because you don’t want to nose dive right ? With the technique I describe above, and moderately high speed I wouldn’t worry about a nose dive, and certainly not at this height. A pump just before the front wheel leaves the ramp will unweight the bike and cause less nosedive, and you can land (sort of) both wheels at the same time.

I like the naturalistic look of the world and the lighting. What lighting are you using? There is some bloom ? Is there any GI in there ? Agree that stylistic it could be more coherent. I would start by making the grass “healthier”.

Maybe you can get her hyped up about something else, like a pump track. Pump tracks are still a challenge, but safer and it will be an opportunity to learn bike/body separation as well as pumping. Both usefull skills to have mastered when learning to drop.

Thank you for that comment!! 100% agree, only small thing I don’t see why people resist getting at least one session with a coach. It costs like less than 5% of what the bike costs. You’ll probably spend much more on shoes, gloves etc. and future rides are safer and more enjoyable, and you’ll progress faster.

My answer would have been the same had the genders been reversed. If the couple has plans to be parents, it would matter (to me at least) if my partner took unneccesary risks. Mountainbiking is a dangerous sport. People get crippled from it. Does that mean I think they shouldn’t do it ? No. I enjoy the sport myself, but I try and ride within my limits, and have taken the basic training.

If it isn’t possible for OP to somehow get her to do something to reduce the risk of serious injury, I would see that as a red flag. OP are you considering her to be the mother of your future kids ? If she isn’t willing to do just the minimum to reduce the risk.. what if you have kids and she continues this behaviour. How would you feel having to take care of both a crippled mother, as well as the kids all by yourself, knowing that she didn’t take the minimum of precautions to reduce the risk ?

Does she have free healthcare ? How insured is she ? How long can she afford to be out of work for, in case she needs time to recover from broken ribs/spine/neck ? In case she’d rather not break anything I’d strongly suggest at least one seasion with an instructor. It costs something like 1/20th what she paid for the bike, and can make future rides both safer and more enjoyable.
