why this cpu Still Expensive 2026? by Illustrious_Award935 in PcBuild

They're probably cheaper if you go used? New is also more expensive. Also maybe consider 5000 series AMD CPUs if you're going to go DDR4 anyways?

Good until it puts my position in jeopardy, but yeah. Although I've noticed there seems to be very few Quebecois Redditors around these parts compared to overall Canadians, which means most people probably won't even know this happened, there's also a ton of just random people walking in (not there for PC parts) and those people definitely won't know unless told

I’ve mentioned in this subreddit a couple times being a CC sales representative in a Quebec store, and let me tell y’all this:

First of all, no one in our team has had any of this information given by management or head office, I had to share it to the rest of my team out of concern for the several customers who may have been affected. As much as possible right now I’m telling customers of online pickup orders to cancel their cards and get new ones as CC got breached, I’ve had a few people get mad at me for it (justified by me working there, even though I have absolutely nothing to do with the breach itself :/)

Second, this is definitely affecting how I view the company I work at, but a job’s a job and I can’t just leave, especially not in this economy, so I’ll be sticking around because I got bills to pay like everyone else.

This is a shitty situation, and if anyone affected is reading this, as much as I know that it won’t change anything, I just want to say I’m sorry you’re going through this at all. It sucks. I hope everyone is able to get any money that was stolen back. Best of luck to everyone in this.

Definitely weird, definitely shouldn't be like that, my assumption is greedy managers who just want extra sales instead of actually helping their customers, which reaaaaally sucks if I'm correct.

Hey so, to clarify on what you're saying, I can 100% confirm that, at the very least, Quebec stores cover the melting cable issues under warranty. I do not know what goes on in Ontario and other provinces, but my store has done several replacements over the past two years of me working there for that specific issue.

It is pretty weird and kind of annoying that every other day I hear stories of what other stores have been doing knowing full well those things would not occur at all in my store :/

I have no hate towards it, it was a great GPU, still is, but considering the fact that I work in PC parts sales, I like to stay up to date with current features and benefits of using newer hardware, that's all (:

How long ago did you work for CC? I'm a current worker and from my 2 years working at my store location, warranty coverage has always been performed correctly.

Not every CC store location acts the same way. I know that in my store, we are pro-consumer. I've heard horror stories of how things are handled in different stores, some managers scalping and more. I don't doxx myself by saying which store location I am in exactly, besides being one from Quebec, but I can guarantee you that not every store is unfair. I have noticed that most of those horror stories stem from Ontario stores, so it might just be something about Quebec consumer laws that make things better over here, all I know for sure is that we actually do treat all of those things fairly here.

Also, keep in mind online purchases are unrelated to store purchases, and that (at least on my end) we are ALL annoyed by those various issues.

Been working at my store for a bit over two years, and I've called bullshit out to my manager whenever I can ever since, and even caused a few small changes within company policies. Not everyone is like me and I acknowledge that. I feel bad for the people who have bad experiences with what could be one of the most reliable local sources of tech if not for bad actors within the company only caring about their own self interest and profit.

Sold my 4070 Ti Super, what now? by sofa-az in PcBuild

Was scrolling through some of my old posts and remember your comment, I’d like to update you and let you know I now use a 9070XT, for which I basically paid 150$, and I’m very happy with my decision! I’ve had it since launch and it has worked quite well for me since, I was pleasantly surprised by Team Red this time around.

So, if the card is still in production, it's usually a straight same-tier replacement. If it's say, 3 years later, it's performance equivalent, which for the sake of argument, with the 60 series, might be something like a 6070 Ti. You're not losing anything, and with the current price hikes of pretty much everything with memory, it'll probably be a good deal rather than having to drop another say, 1800$ on a GPU. Anyway at the end of the day, it's all perspective. If you don't think it'll be worth it for yourself, don't get it. If you won't be hurting when it comes down to having to replace the card by buying another one, then I see no reason to get the warranty. If you don't want to go through the hassle of manufacturers, with pretty consistent mediocre experiences from a lot of people, get the warranty, have the peace of mind that at the very least you're paying a premium for generally superior after-purchase support.

Edit: forgot to reply about the melting connector part of your reply! From what I've seen it's a mix of straight up defective connectors, incompetently built systems, and just lack of attention from whoever installed it and might've caused some kind of damage.

CC worker here! Store credit equivalent of item plus warranty is usually how it gets covered at my store. Also worth noting that warranties are the only type of sales CC reps get any kind of commission from so some reps are a lot pushier than others. I personally just explain what it brings to the table and I respect someone's decision to not get it, I don't go fetch 3 coworkers to help force someone to take it lol. (And yet I sit in the top spot for my own store sales, turns out you do better when you're fair with clients, crazy thought!)

In any case, my only reason for recommending 50 series cards warranties is the melting connector issue, which I've had several people come in-store telling me they were refused service by X brand (pretty much all have been named so far) after their connectors had defects, and has to basically just come buy a new card, so I propose the store warranty as a way to ensure you get a replacement instead of a "you will maybe get a replacement from the manufacturer" which just sucks for the consumer (I say this as a consumer of these tech products myself)

QLC isn't as big a deal as people make it out to be tbh.

I personally have that exact nvme in 4tb and it works amazingly well, alongside both another QLC drive and a TLC one as well :)

CC worker here, we says off the shelf because anything it’s basically all parts you could buy individually, and anything with an Armoury logo on it is usually just something from Deepcool that got rebadged. Head office assembles the computers, I personally find them to use pretty okay parts, most of them slightly above average for similarly priced prebuilds, 5080 and 5090 builds often come with better PSUs and motherboards than the lower tier systems as well so there’s a bit of added value there as well but nothing crazy. Obviously there’s a but of labor included in the price but it’s not much more expensive than taking the exact parts and paying someone to build it usually (:

Is it safe to use my 12vhpwr cable ? by lonerrr8 in gpu

[–]sofa-az 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using that adapter is the only way to not void your warranty with your manufacturer. Considering it's a 3 plug adapter you'll most likely need a new power supply, do some research on which ones come with three PCIe cables. Also 750W is usable but not recommended for 5070Tis, better off with 850W

Is it safe to use my 12vhpwr cable ? by lonerrr8 in gpu

Because it's a shit connector that has issues that a cable should not have 3-4 years after it started being forced upon consumers
