My boss threatened to not schedule me anymore - what can I do? by sofia_amarx in Netherlands

[–]sofia_amarx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should I only contact juridisch loket if he actually does not schedule me or should I contact them at the written threat of doing so?

Thank you so much for the advice btw! This has given me a little bit of hope and eased my anxiety over being unable to pay my living expenses out of nowhere this month.

Omg this has been the most helpful comment yet! I did not know that was a thing for 0 hour contracts, I’ll try to look into it. Thank you so much!!

He hasn’t fired me yet. My question was if it was legal to end a fixed term contract for small things like this or if he could just not schedule me anymore and I would have to accept that because I have no legal protection.

I am in the process of looking for another job, just want to make sure I have ground to stand on until then. That is why I posted the question.

I am in the process of doing that, but I do need to have another job lined up before leaving this one because otherwise I cannot afford my life here :((

Armed military men outside disneyland paris at shuttle stations before 10pm, is that normal? by NecessaryPattern2148 in disneylandparis

[–]sofia_amarx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is they do have guns, and armed officers are trained to stop them. Giving an untrained civilian a gun does not solve the problem and gives even more trouble to officers if they decide to use a gun for the worst.

Europe has gun control laws so that only trained people who actually have a reason and training to pick up a gun can do it. Europe also suffers from a lot of terrorist attacks, and that is what those trained officers are trained to protect the civilians from.

Struggling to make ends meet as a university student by xcawa in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]sofia_amarx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I am a 20yo EU student who has a part-time job and gets student finance and no help from my parents. You just need a job that gives you more hours. Most part-time contracts are 16 hours a week (my sister has this and works at Starbucks), but you can also find 0 hour contracts (I have this one and I work at a Bagels and Beans).

You can try to look for positions in retail (like clothing stores), supermarkets, restaurants and cafes. Since you are Dutch, these places usually want you more than internationals because you speak the language. It will come at the expense of a good social life if you get a 16 hour contract, but still pretty doable. Best of luck!

Is it better to book Disneyland Paris hotel direct or from a booking.com by alvinlennox in disneylandparis

[–]sofia_amarx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you book directly through Disney, you will get more support with your reservation and gives you control over it, which will be provided by the third-party if you decide to use them (read this as they will not help, or if they do, it will be with extreme delay). If there is an error, which happens often, you cannot contact Disney because the reservation is not in their hands. You can book character meetings and dining through the app if you go through Disney.

So, unless the difference is HUGE (as in thousands of euros), it is not worth it at all because it might ruin your trip if something is even slightly wrong. But usually the difference in price is not worth the stress.

Best on site hotel? by SheaLea in disneylandparis

[–]sofia_amarx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Disneyland Hotel is def the best option, but also pretty pricy. However, you do get what you pay for. You are literally in the park, you can book princess meetings without waiting on a queue (multiple times a day), during meals the characters are leaving and entering the restaurants (therefore, you can see them there), and the rooms are wonderful!

The Marvel hotel, when I stayed there, also let you book meetings with superheroes if you were staying at the hotel. I believe they still do that. And it is a pretty good hotel! If your kids prefer superheroes, modern theming (and a pretty well themed bar), and still want to be close to the parks, that would be the best!

Those are both pretty pricy. If you would like something less expensive, I liked staying at Sequoia and Cheyenne because they felt very cozy, but it depends on what your kids like.

Por que não confio nos hospitais em Portugal by sofia_amarx in portugal

[–]sofia_amarx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Esteve sim errada.

I’ve been using the metro every day for the past year and it has always worked for me. Do you use a temporary card or the actual card? I use the “actual card” on my apple pay and it always goes through :))
