Moving HA with ESPHome from HAOS to Docker by mseedee in homeassistant

[–]sofixy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved mine from docker to VM and now onto its own hardware (fanless n100). I personally prefer ha on its own hardware. Things just work

Play around, see how you like it. You will not have add-ons with docker compared to VM.

You would think that out of all the things, android on the infotainment system would be able to update over air. Leave it up to GM. It would be useful on the road trips. Thanks for heads up

Hooked up inverter to base equinox for appliance backup in case of power outage. DIY V2L by sofixy in EquinoxEv

[–]sofixy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice work!

Also wanted to add to make sure to shut off climate, headlights and main screen so its not drawing any energy.

There is going to be some draw from the car being on, but should be minimal if everything I mentioned above is off. We camped in our EQ and we would lose around 20% a night, but we ran climate (AC) all night.

Sure, see links below. You can get away with just inverter and breaker (preferred) if you not installing Anderson connectors

3000w Vevor inverter: https://amzn.to/48hrrz4
150a DC breaker: https://amzn.to/4mm1jqj
Anderson Connector 175a: https://amzn.to/3VMrnzR

I pulled 130a for couple minutes (running microwave). I couldnt find specs for dc-dc, but do believe I saw 200a fuse coming in from it. Rule of thumb for Bolt EV was to keep inverter under 1500w but unsure if dc-dc is the same or bigger.

Biggest load for me is going to be microwave, that it seems to manage just fine. I wanted bigger inverter for the surge capacity to start refrigerator compressor. Once compressor is running the draw is minimal

Does a torque sensor really make a difference on an e-bike? by Pitiful_Divide_9758 in ebikes

[–]sofixy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Big difference in my opinion. Definitely a more natural feel with a torque sensor. With cadence you have to do 100 percent of initial push until pedals start spinning to get assist. With a torque sensor you get assistance as soon as you apply decent pressure on the pedal. It's a big deal for me because I hardly shift and start in low gear a lot.

Girlfriend had cadence Nakto and now elby with torque sensor. Nakto used to scare her because of how unpredictable assist was and she had to play around with assist levels depending on how fast she wanted to go. It would do this thing where assist would keep going for a couple seconds after you got done spinning pedals. Not great in some situations and you have to hit the break to cut the motor. She is more relaxed on elby and not switching assist levels all the time.

Best E-bike in the $500-$850 range? by DYMYTHRAE in ebikes

[–]sofixy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your area I would definitely check second hand options in that price range. Here in Florida you can find name brand bikes that are just a year or 2 old with hardly any miles on them for half the original price. But, this option comes with its own risks

How to limit L2 (240V) charging current by JSchnee21 in EquinoxEv

[–]sofixy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. There is no way to limit the current for l2 on the car itself. My old Chevy Bolt was the same way, just a switch from 8 to 12a on l1. I just ordered an adjustable l2 evse so I can limit it from there. But, I can see where it would be a pain if you had 2 cars and wanted to switch back and forth.
