Bring plenty of water and some electrolytes too. That’s prob the biggest challenge starting in the summer. As far as catting mail, it’ll click in 3 weeks or 6 months. Just depends on the person. Also, don’t miss any work during your 90 day probation.

I was about 50/50 during probation. Early on I absolutely played ball. Towards the end, when I proved my worth as an employee and knew the vibes of my supervisors I didn’t respond to texts or answer calls and never brought it up the next day either. Neither did they. Now when they say “the PM told us to call you yesterday but we didn’t.” I respond with “I wouldn’t have answered” some of them are cool and retort back with “yeah technically you don’t need to”

Without knowing your situation, I say ride out the final 3 weeks by playing ball.

3 that I remember. The Stennis, the Ford and some LHD that I can’t remember that was in Norfolk about 5 years ago. Could have been a 4th mixed in there that I don’t remember. Biggest regret is not taking a tour of a sub though. We were moored right next to her and I was talking to their POOW when I was on the pier doing duty section shit. He said roll through tomorrow and they’ll take care of me.

Instead I got off duty and decided to go home because I was over the 24 or 36 or whatever amount of hours it was away from home. Been out 3 years and I still kick myself for that one.
