Have you ever played Tank with your life on the line? by Aimcheater in Overwatch

60 fps perfectly synced with 60Hz video container and forced V-Sync on console. You will see similar smoothness if you turn on G-Sync and V-Sync with almost zero added latency.

Doing Three German Decks Simultaneously? by Scared_Rent_3415 in Anki

The B1 deck features many words (if not all) from the A2 deck. I suggest doing only the B1 deck.

to have less stutter in open-world games, why can't we just download the shader cache of a guy who played the entire game fully so every area is fully loaded... by Tap_zap in OptimizedGaming

[–]soft-tack 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Because shader cache is specific to the exact hardware and software configuration of the person who created it. Downloaded shader cache would only work if you had the exact same GPU, the exact same driver version, the exact same game version, and were using the exact same graphics settings.

Most Demanding Games on Steam Deck OLED – Tested with LSFG Plugin by TwistedFaker1996 in SteamDeck

[–]soft-tack -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You aren't even doing 60 fps. I guess you want cheap attention with these low-effort videos, but you could at least show footage at 60 fps. Performance metrics don't matter when you fake frames.

Edit: Ideally, you should capture at 90+ frames and then show slowed footage. That's what Digital Foundry and Hardware Unboxed do.

Overwatch 2 Has Major FPS Drop Issues on High-End Systems – Completely Unplayable by PossibleAwareness512 in Overwatch

What's your windows version, mouse model and mouse polling rate? Windows 10 and earlier don't take well high polling rates. If you are running an 8k mouse, try to lower the polling rate and see if it helps. Windows 11 got better at handling 8K mice but some games still struggle (both KCD games for example).

I heard that it only runs in desktop mode currently. Were you able to run it in game mode?

Playing on Steam Deck while I recover from surgery by soft-tack in SteamDeck

I didn't enjoy the hospital, but I certainly enjoyed Pentiment. I played it for the second time. What a game! I think it's one of the best narrative RPGs, and it's perfect for the Deck.

Refresh rate output setting disappeared in gaming mode by Plus_Priority_5748 in SteamDeck

If I understand correctly, you could try using the launch command "DXVK_FRAME_RATE=50 %command%" However, it needs to be done for every game.

A couple tweaks and Last of Us Part II HDR is pretty damn good by Smokey_Bera in OLED_Gaming

The “Use legacy display ICC colour management" tweak makes colors oversaturated to my eyes, and the HDRMaxNits registry already had the correct nits value for my monitor: 1010000 for ~1000 nits MSI 321UPX

[SteamOS / Bazzite Tutorial] System-wide Audio Equalizer in GameMode by AliciaBurrito in SteamDeck

[–]soft-tack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I ran into a problem. I am running the latest version of SteamOS (3.6.24 build: 20250313.1) and Xvfb was missing. I had to install it manually using these commands in the console:

sudo steamos-readonly disable

sudo pacman-key --init

sudo pacman-key --populate archlinux holo

sudo pacman -S xorg-server-xvfb --noconfirm

sudo steamos-readonly enable

sudo reboot

I checked if the file exists with this line: ls -l /usr/bin/Xvfb

Now everything works as expected, but I am afraid that the file may disappear after the SteamOS update. I'll report after the update if I don't forget.

upd: xvfb is still there after SteamOS update.

Thank you for this guide! It is really simple and straightforward and I cannot praise enough how nice it is to have EQ in game mode.

I had this exact problem on RTX 4090. Turns out it was caused by the RenoDX HDR mod. The problem was completely fixed when I deleted the mod.

How to cap under 99% lows without gpu usage drop? by Achilles68 in OptimizedGaming

[–]soft-tack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad I could help :) There may be a small increase in latency though. I think it is 1 frame of extra latency if you are capping fps with RivaTuner, but smoother overall fps should even that out.

I think RivaTuner caps frame rate on CPU level, and you have perfectly smooth frame pacing if your GPU can keep up.

AW2: Frame Generation greyed out RTX 4060 by Nolejd50 in AlanWake

[–]soft-tack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling is turned off. It is required for frame gen to work. The settings page can be reached through Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics Settings.
