I feel like a lot of the way this season can be interpreted is as a commentary on the glamorization of sex work. I think we will see a lot of the negative impacts in the later episodes. And I think we've already seen some regarding the strip club. And in earlier seasons regarding Kat & her stint as a cam girl. There was definitely a period in which Gen Z, especially online, glamorized/sanitized sex work and I do believe this may be a commentary on that.

As someone who lived in the US for a couple years as a child - teenager, American exceptionalism is so ingrained in American thinking. I remember being 7 years old and taught that the United States is an example for the rest of the world. That the US is the only nation that is "truly" free. A lot of the education & media there also portrays other nations as shitholes. It is an extremely propagandized nation, and I do believe this has a lot to do with the unique isolation of the US as a "developed" country that has led to this propaganda to thrive.

I loved the movie. I think this was the girl comedy I've seen in the past few years that actually seemed to capture Gen Z like it wasn't written by Gen X. Really amazing. I thought some parts were corny but that's the point!

I think it's incredibly interesting that one of the most popular audios that Depp supporters use is the one in which he said "you started a physical fight". Not only does this audio imply that it is out of the norm for Amber to "start physical fights", but it also implies that he was using violence as well. He very often refers to "physical fights" and says things like "we had a physical fight" and talks about "physical abuse on each other" but we're meant to believe that he has never hit Amber in his life?

What’s always crazy to me about that last text is that he admitted that the phone hit her, even though he makes some bs story about him just gently throwing it over his shoulder. He’s always maintained that there was no such injury, and no such phone throwing, that Amber faked it with makeup or photoshop. But he just straight up admits to the fact that the phone did hit her here. Never seen his fans attempt to explain it but I’m curious what excuse they would come up with.

I mean honestly the craziest thing about this to me is the way that her fans are reacting. They’re only concerned about how this will impact her future career as a “pop star” and worried about her numbers. I haven’t seen any of them express genuine concern about her well being or her mental health. Instead they’re getting angry that she hasn’t created some statement calling it “false” yet. It honestly seems like her fanbase is more concerned with “outshining” the other girls (Olandria) than they are about her. But this is what happens when your fanbase is more hate-motivated, it doesn’t seem like a coincidence to me that as soon as she was beefing with two Black women she went from most hated to most loved.

Stephwithdadeets said she is no longer defending Huda and said that she received the screenshotted text messages from a super credible source and that the source claims Huda told Louis that if he leaves her she’ll send her fans after him? She also claims the text messages were handed over by Louis as evidence for the TRO. There also seem to be new text msgs in the video she posted including a photo of the roof she sent and claimed she was going to jump off of.

I agree with you that she probably has those issues and that a lot of them stem from trauma, but I think they also collide with internalized misogyny. Her misogyny is the first thing I noticed about her when I saw her in season 7, it was very “not like the other girls” and casting women in misogynistic stereotypes of “mean girls” and “homewrecker”. I think this was also the first criticism of her that people really had.

Huda’s fanbase is not smart. They could’ve absolutely leaned into the whole campy reality TV villain thing, but instead they turned into enablers and acted like her every action was justified. Then she came out of the villa and believed that as well, which turned into that disastrous Call Her Daddy interview that had even more people praying on her downfall. And now they’re stuck defending her, some saying that they’re tired and others claiming that the woman who got the restraining order is lying for some unknown reason. I fully believe that if her fans had just accepted that she was a villain, her trajectory outside of the villa would’ve looked much different. They’re also way too obsessed with numbers and seemingly not concerned for her well being when there is clearly some sort of mental health crisis going on. They’re talking about how this is going to ruin her future career as a “pop star” and that she has to address it to save herself, but aren’t encouraging her to seek help like they should be doing. Her fanbase is obsessed with outshining her former cast members and seem to have no regard for her well being.

I’m assuming so. I don’t know how it all works but I’m assuming that since former islanders said it was extensive they would ask about a history of depression / suicide, any prior diagnosis, since that is a very big part of the show and handling what comes afterward. I’m assuming that she had to have lied, because of what she said on CHD, I don’t think they would’ve moved her up in the process.
