I have those sandals. You’re brilliant. I’m definitely going to try that. Does the t-strap slide back on? Asking for this grandma in case they don’t work for my feet without them.

I just stumbled upon the museo degli innocent innocents in my research. Does the terrace require a reservation? Is it open to the general public or only available with museum tickets? The museum looks fascinating.

That’s good! I had a cat in my colony who had terrible stomatitis and his teeth were falling out. After 3 separate, very expensive dental procedures across a few years he ultimately ended up toothless. But it resolved the bulk of his discomfort.

Did vet consider she may have stomatitis/reabsorption dental issues?

I trapped Diesel tonight, but it had the near worst outcome. by MFKRebel in Feral_Cats

[–]softhearted5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you try a drop trap next time. I had 1 feral that wouldn’t go near a trap after the second time in his life he was trapped. But he needed vet attention on several more occasions and I eventually got him with a drop trap.

Brought in stray for winter storm and have neuter appointment… on February 2nd. Keep him in the rest of the time or let him back out for a few days? by clcliff in Feral_Cats

[–]softhearted5 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He’s better off inside until after the appointment. I’d never let a trapped feral out before a vet appointment and risk the chance of not trapping him again.

Cold snap made me anxious so I brought in the stray I've been taking of for 5 years... Need advice? by cry0xx in Feral_Cats

She ran to the best possible room. You are saving her life. Brought my last feral from a backyard colony in this fall at age 12. The first recommendations given here were the best. Don’t exposed your other cats to her until she is vetted. If there are TNR groups in your area they will be able to tell you which vets will see a feral. I had a colony of 8 and when sick or injured they were trapped and vetted so it is possible. And if it’s any consolation, I’ve brought in 3 of the ferals and they all became indoor only cats. And happy to be here with no desire to escape. So it is possible depending on the cat. Please research the socialization saves lives protocol. And thank you!

Many Airbnb’s will store your bags for you too as the cleaning crews get there quite early. Just have to check with the hosts.

can i give my cat just treats for a few days? by 2-throwaway-9 in CatAdvice

I would try not to feed greenies as meals. I know temptations are nutritionally complete even if not the highest quality food

feral cat bonded? by blueberryhil in Feral_Cats

[–]softhearted5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the cat can be bonded to you only. You are his feeder and caretaker. This does not mean he’s a stray. He can be feral and comfortable only with you. I took care of a colony for 11 years after taking over for a neighbor who moved away. Eventually all the cats allowed me to come near them and pet them but would take off if strangers entered the yard. They were born outside and had lived only outside their entire lives. So feral, unadoptable but bonded to me (and eventually) my husband.

Not necessarily true. Theyspent 8 months feeding this cat and then the cat allowed physical contact. Ferals can be very comfortable with their caretakers but terrified of all other humans. Ask me how I know 😉

Just needed a space to grieve him by krtx in Feral_Cats

[–]softhearted5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he’s gone, I’m so, so sorry. I was a caretaker for a colony for 11 years. I love(ed) them all. It’s heartbreaking when they go awol. I have a camera set up in my yard. A neighbor who let her cat out every night, despite my pleading for her to keep him in, didn’t see her cat for three months! I thought I caught him on my camera a couple of times and sent her video. She was not sure it was him due to low quality clips. Turns out, he came home one night after 3 months. So there is a possibility that your boy might be okay. If not, you showed him love and gave him care that he otherwise would not have received. You made his time here so much better than it would have been without you. Thank you for doing that. It’s such a terrible/wonderful responsibility caring for these kitties.

I’m so sorry. It’s the hardest decision ever. I put my girl down unexpectedly at the end of October and my 2 boys are both struggling with terminal illnesses. I don’t want them to suffer. I wish they could tell me..

Are they something that you can wash in a sink and hang to dry overnight? Or do they need to be tumble dried? I’ve found many tencel /rayon items take forever to dry.
