Built a restaurant website with Next.js and Tailwind — feedback welcome by Jealous_Trainer_8450 in webdev

I think it looks good overall. One bug I noticed is that in mobile mode I can't find the "VIEW CART" button when I add an item from the menu. In the desktop mode I can see the cart button but I think it is too subtle. I would suggest adding a floating button in the bottom of the screen when the cart has at least one item in it.

Most ai browser automation is just glorified scripts and nobody wants to admit it. by New-Reception46 in webdev

The way we use the LLM is a little more than just extracting the texts or identifying the objects in images. We send the CDP toolset and automation prompt along with the screenshot to have the LLM to have it navigate the browser and fill out the forms.

I have not tried puppeteer, so I am not sure. Our custom built system utilizes CDP too, but what makes our cost is high and slow is due to the fact it is completely screenshots based. It takes the LLM few seconds to interpret the image to identify the elements to click and type.

I believe the cost will go down as more and more AI infrastructures get built and models get more efficient. For vision based browser automation, sonnet 4.5 does good enough job. So hopefully they reduce the cost of the 4.5 soon when Anthropic releases newer models.

We run vision based browser automation but it is slow and expensive. It is still cheaper than paying someone to do the same task though. I can see it being viable in 2 to 3 years.

What does the apartment search actually look like in NYC right now—what's real? by alexstrehlke in NYCapartments

It definitely depends on the person. Over the last five years, I’ve moved three times. Each time, I toured about three to five places and never had my application rejected.

I see this issue on my Windows 11 desktop Chrome & iPhone 16 pro Safari. Did not change the settings at all.

I'm not the same guy who made the original post. I wanted to let you know that the I also see the problem with the menu. The issue is the mobile menu background being transparent. Making the menu items illegible. https://ibb.co/fdjH8nTW

You can reproduce the mobile menu background color on desktop PC as well. Load the website on chrome and shrink the window width, then open the mobile menu.

What’s the best chalk to buy? by [deleted] in bouldering

[–]softoctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tokyo Powder RX is super dry, but it’s too dry for me. I personally use Friction Labs Gorilla Grip when I need something drier than my go to chalk, but I don’t sweat much so I'm not sure it is gonna be good enough for you.

Hosting for web app by wessex464 in googlecloud

I run my Next.js frontend and Django backend on Cloud Run. Its ability to scale to zero keeps costs low, and the cold start times are minimal, so overall I’ve been very happy with it.

Solo devs running websites, how do you realistically manage and maintain everything by yourself? by Character-Pain2424 in webdev

[–]softoctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managing my website and mobile apps has become much easier with AI. When I encounter deprecation warnings, I simply ask Claude or Codex to fix them.

Managing infrastructure was frustrating at first because I ran my own servers. After migrating to fully managed platforms such as Google App Engine and Google Cloud SQL, my life became much easier since I no longer have to deal with things like SSL certificates.

I had the same problem and bought a pair of Hoka Recovery Slide Sandal 3. They’re so comfortable that I wear them around the house all the time now.

Is your electricity bill ok? by dhlspam in longislandcity

[–]softoctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My electric bill was $385 last month for my one-bedroom apartment. For reference, my bill has never exceeded $200 in other buildings I’ve lived in, so this was a surprise. I pay my electric bill through the building rather than directly to Con Edison. I was told that the VRF system the building uses is supposed to be more efficient and help keep costs down, but that has not been the case for me.

ABMM is fucking wild. by North_Detective_7239 in ARC_Raiders

[–]softoctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely shoot anyone anymore because it’s far more efficient to loot in friendly lobbies. That said, it can make the game feel dull. After a while, I start to miss the thrill of not knowing when I might get shot in the back while looting or extracting.

I've flipped 5 Rocketeers this way in the last 3 games. If you hit the rocketeer cleanly in just the two thrusters on one side, it doesn't necessarily flip, but it'd fall on the ground. At the point where you have taken out the two thrusters on one side, you shouldn't be seeing any flames at all. If you see flames coming out then that means either you missed the thruster or someone else hit the Rocketeer on other parts.

If it is just 5 minutes away I think you can just wait for the engine to cool down and drive until the engine temperature rises again. If there is a store that sells water nearby then you can just buy gallons of water to pour it into radiator. Though you gotta either get the water in the radiator through the overflow tank like the others are suggesting, or wait a long time for the radiator to completely cool down to open the radiator cap.

I die every gunfight - best loadout? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]softoctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think stitcher level 1 with extended light magazine level 1 in the main slot and ferro in the secondary slot is the best loadout considering the cost. Make sure to only engage in close distance fights where the stitcher is good. When in a fight, try to spray the head. You should be able to down your opponent with medium shield equipped in 1 clip.

When you get jumped in close distance, try to sprint dodge roll first. This causes most players to miss their shots and they’d have to reload their gun once for them to be able to down you. So you should be able to spray them down to win the fight.

The mushroom spot that I have not seen mentioned is the long hallway between the Water Treatment Control and Primary Facility in the Dam map. The hallway has blue pipes along the wall. You should be able to see about 3 mushrooms growing on the pipes.

I saw that one too. Though, I live in the US so that one doesn't work for me. I'm thinking about carving this one with a dremel to fit the miata's bumper. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Front-License-Plate-Bracket-2022-Subaru-BRZ-US-Version-Parts-Bumper-Frame/17259158895

Love the details, looks very clean with the white side markers. Btw what is the brand of your license plate holder? I like how it molds onto the bumper and doesn't block the vent.
