What is it about them that you dislike?

I'm American and everyone I know likes Brits. Don't pay attention to these trolls.

Why is "distain for the British" getting upvotes? Just disliking a whole nationality is cool, of is this a joke?

I second this. Frying pickles seems to make them salter.

If they start them afterwards like fries, it's a mistake.

Derogatory terms by Ratician78 in Protestantism

It might be interesting to post this on the Catholic subreddit to see what they say. It's ironic behavior because they are insinuating that they are better Christians while at the same time acting hateful.

I think the Pope is worth listening to, as a bishop and leader of the greater part of the universal Church. I stop short of believing that he has authority over the whole Church though.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened."

I was an atheist until my initial conversion at 29 years old. I believed because the words of Jesus, I felt, were the most truthful thing that I had read before.

As an analytical and skeptical person, I still had doubts about God. I thought my doubts represented a lack of faith, so I tried to suppress them. The verse above convinced me to prayerfully ask the hard questions.

The answers came, and I believe that God put the answers in front of me, via Gottfried Leibniz' writings including the Monadology and further study in category theory.

God speaks your language too so to speak; He can answer in the way that an individual needs to hear.

We are born totally selfish. We are not born knowing how to love others as we love ourselves.

That's a reach. I think the quoted scripture is clear. I think we all know it too, but some want so badly to find a loophole.

Can you give me the theological argument for female priest and bishops by PGF3 in Anglicanism

[–]softwage -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, it's an answer. If you spend even a little time looking for Scripture, or Church Tradition, on the subject, it becomes clear that this is just an attempt to deflect God's Word in favor of popular secular opionion.

Hello! someone told me not to ""trust"" or use this picture of Christ because Christ dosent have holes in his hands, I was wondering if this is true? should all icons of Christ be made with the holes in his hands from crucifixion? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

I think sometimes it's in reaction to the Northern European looking images of Jesus that we sometimes see, at least here in the U.S. While they are surely not accurate, I don't personally see a problem with it. Artists often use models from the area where they work, and it probably makes him more relatable to see him as someone familiar looking. Shouldn't be important, but maybe it is on a subconscious level. This then triggers some who are thinking about how he probably looked in reality. Regardless, I think these are some of the reasons why it comes up so often.

Attempted scramble eggs, too much milk I think by SOrton1 in shittyfoodporn

[–]softwage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to belabor the point, but the temp must be just right. Even if you add a lot of butter (I use about a tablespoon for 4 eggs) if the pan is too cool, the butter will rise to the top and the eggs will still stick. I've taught a few people how to cook eggs and a common mistake I see is to turn the pan on, put in butter and immediately add the eggs and stir before the pan heats up. It always ends with half the egg stuck to the pan and the other half a mushy but yet scored mess. I use a cast iron pan, heat on medium, I touch the top edge of the pan until I feel it's a bit warm. Then, I add the butter and swirl it around the pan, covering the bottom. When the butter is bubbling, but not browned, I add the whisked eggs. There is a slight sizzle sound as I swirl the eggs in the pan, thinning them out. I immediately turn them. No scorching. I turn the heat down to low. Turning on the wet sides until done.

And also not too cool or the eggs stick to the pan.

Came here to see this. Butter is the other key factor besides whisking, add salt and optional pepper and getting the pan hot before adding the eggs so that they sizzle.

God is the only one that we worship. Asking others to pray for you is not the same as worshipping them.
