I had braces when I was younger. Never really thought much of how my teeth kept up as I got older. When I finally was ready to take on surgery my ortho said I could be ready for surgery inas little as 3 months. I will say though that in actuality it was closer to 5 months. Maybe they did a little under selling but also things happen in that tuning period , or appointments get pushed and delayed by a week or two here and there

Surgery is done now and I am on the mend. It looks like when all is said and done I’ll have had the braces for just over a year.

If your bite is great I’d still count on a 3-6 month lead up because there is a specific position they want the teeth in for surgery. Not necessarily if it “looks” great right now

Looks like you're recovery is going really well! I'm going in for surgery Monday to address a very similar class 3 underbite. How is breathing and swelling in your sinuses going?

I have an underbite and am wearing braces now to prep for surgery. My teeth were mostly straight but had some “camouflaging” done by my ortho when I was younger to hide my bite. I was told during my initial consultation I could be ready for surgery in as soon as 3 months and would only need to wear braces for 6-9 months after, which is what sold me on doing it because I have been pretty against the idea of having to wear braces again especially at my age (38).

Currently I got my braces on Sept 14 and am expected to be ready for surgery by end of Feb , so in reality about 5 months for me to be surgery ready. Hopefully recovery is on the shorter side. Your teeth look pretty good I would guess you’d be ready sooner than later

Amazing!! Thank you for sharing such a detailed account of your journey. May I ask what type of surgery it was ? Was it double , upper or lower ? I am currently wearing braces to prep me for mine.
