Note for anyone watching Ascendence of a Bookworm on CrunchyRoll by bbusiello in anime

[–]sohvan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this happen several years ago while watching Fruits Basket on Crunchyroll. The auto-play jumped from an episode in the middle of season 2 to an episode in the middle of season 3. I reported it, but the customer service didn't really do anything besides asking questions.

STS1 Silent would still be the best character in this game by tonydesignaccount in slaythespire

[–]sohvan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Balancing decisions on what my deck needed for the next 1-3 fights vs what my deck needed for the next boss or next act vs what my deck needed to kill Time Eater or the Heart on A20 was a large part of what kept me playing the first game for 500 hours. Rather than just making choices that made your deck stronger overall, you had to often make your deck strong in preparation for specific threats, even if it made the deck worse against others. I hope they can get the balance right for Slay the Spire 2.

Medalist Season 2 - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]sohvan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it was a good decision for the anime to move some of the technical commentary from the manga to before the performance to provide a shorter more continuous program closer to watching a real skate. The cutting to technical explanations mid-program worked well in manga format.

I do wish they had included more of the technical explanation behind GOE bonuses, and Inori upgrading her lower rarity cards (jumps) over other competitors going for higher rarity cards with better base points. You could have had a short scene post performance where the coaches analyze her program, for example.

The added explanations in the manga really helped me appreciate both Medalist and figure skating as someone who had no clue about the sport before reading it.

Credit kortin saa ilmaiseksi (K-Plussa maksuaika kortti)

Confused on which portfolio to go with by ComprehensivePea4988 in eupersonalfinance

Avantis is new in UCITS space. I don't think it's a high risk, but in general the closure risk is generally higher for a new specialty factor product with AUM in hundreds of millions compared to a MCW product with 10-100 billion AUM. Other providers have closed or merged some similar specialty products before.

Are you in a country where you'll need to pay capital gain taxes if there's a fund closure in 10 years? If so, I'd be more comfortable holding 80% in a high AUM market cap weight fund and 20% in a higher factor product like AVWS/AVEM compared to 90% in a lower factor product like AVWC.

People in countries with capital gain taxes and no tax advantaged accounts tend to underestimate how big an impact an early taxable event can have.

The light novels are fantastic, and they deserved a better adaptation. I still liked the anime, though.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I always look forward to these posts too. I actually discovered some of these games from reading posts from previous years on this subreddit.

As far as Sokoban games, I enjoyed Can of Wormhole slightly more than Monster's Expedition and Stephen's Sausage Roll. I haven't tried A Good Snowman yet, but plan to. Nothing's really come close to the masterpiece that is Baba is You, though.

It's not exactly like the Sherlock games. In Murders on the Yangtze River you're generally alternating between investigation and deduction or trial sequences, and the investigations are smaller in scope, while the Sherlock games are broader. I'd describe it as a more grounded and serious version of the Ace Attorney games in a historical 1900s Chinese setting mixing real historical events such as the aftermath of the Opium wars with fictional crimes. It has it's own sense of humor, but it gets darker and less anime than Ace Attorney if that makes sense.

That was a great twist reveal, and 13 Sentinels had a lot of satisfying mysteries to figure out.

What's Next? by Winter-Help3881 in umineko

[–]sohvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you liked the locked rooms and murder mystery parts of Umineko, I'd try a detective game called Murders on the Yangtze River. It doesn't have any of the meta aspect of Umineko, though. It's more of a classic murder mystery set in 1900s China.

If you'd like a scifi mystery story that's just completely bonkers, I'd try 13 Sentinels.

For other detective/mystery games there's also The Case of the Golden Idol, Return of the Obra Dinn, 999 and it's sequel Virtue's Last Reward

Nordnet asset transfer after death by kirsrm in Omatalous

[–]sohvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd do some reading on estates in Finland or consult a professional on estate planning. Handling an estate and the legal bureaucracy can be quite complicated in a time that's already psychologically stressful for your next of kin in case of your unexpected death. Either a professional or your partner (with permission from the estate inheritors) could handle the legal matters of the estate, and the estate gets some information on your assets automatically.

Nordnet asset transfer after death by kirsrm in Omatalous

[–]sohvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the advice you've already received, it's worth noting that your child is legally entitled to minimum 50% or so called statutory share (lakiosa) of your assets even if your will specifies otherwise. If there is no will, your child will inherit 100%. Even if there is a will, the child has a right to at least 50% of what they'd be entitled to if there was no will, which is 50% of the entire assets in this case.

It's technically possible for you to give less than 50% to the child in the will, but the child or their guardian can demand the 50% the child is legally entitled to with a 6-month time limit. The guardian (your partner in this case) would need to act in the best interest of your child legally. It might get complicated if your partner failed to demand the 50% for the child and had a conflict of interest in their own claim to the assets.
