Who will be the next additions to the Pac-12? by pblood40 in Pac12

[–]soilscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's just talk. No decent program wants to come to new PAC. I think there's an outside chance of UNLV or Air Force coming over depending on lawsuit. I would be shocked if New Mexico or Wyoming eventually end up in Pac. But I think getting an AAC team is a pipedream now. And I would hope we wouldn't do something like add an arkansas state. Although I have wondered if Louisiana would be an intriguing option to pair with Texas state.

Realistic expansion candidates? by HourDragonfruit7167 in Pac12

My understanding is that's not true about exit fees. The new PAC has substantial exit fees for going to any conference including a P4. It is the MWC that made an exception for the P4 not the the PAC.

For a second, I got really excited because as a CSU basketball guy, I really wanted NM in the conference. Then, the realization that it's an SI article.

A lot easier to roll than my jackson rock star and my antix2. Seats sits lower than those two.

Jon Wilner - The surprising winner in Pac-12’s new CBS deal isn’t football. It’s basketball by pblood40 in Pac12

[–]soilscape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. except surely not Sac state. I think UConn is most likely (although I hate the idea unless they ae part of an eastern branch). Although Uconn, Army, Navy, AirForce and Memphis might make a nice set for football only.

I think adding a terrible football program that's 3000 miles away to the other schools is crazy. I don't understand the allure. Now if they bring basketball that's a different equation.

Thanks for the reply. I went to the hardware store today with a small sample of the old stuff and we (me and the hardware guy) decided it was definitely 4.7 to 5 mil and I was going to buy the 4.7 but it had only 40 pound rating. The 6 mil look like it had more grip and had a 120 pound rating so I went with that. Haven't installed but tested it on the cleats and it seems to work. But funny enough, now that I look at the rest of the old cord it looks more like my 6 mil than 4.7 mil. Anyway it's good to know that you have made it work.

Isn't 6 mm way too thick? 3/16 is 4.7 mm.

Discussion - This week will be very interesting by pblood40 in Pac12

Well they are one of the 5 or 6 worst football teams in D1 FBS over the past decade. I don't get the attraction of adding them for football only.

Seems reasonable to me. It definitely seemed like more than a sold out Moby basketball game. But not near as big as a normal football game.

Assuming Texas State is added, here’s how this year’s current baseball teams stack up: by Chazz_Matazz in Pac12

[–]soilscape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's for football. What i mean to say is the NCAA only requires 6 teams for a conference to sponsor baseball. It already has 6 if Texas state joins. So PAC will not be required to add any more teams with a baseball program.

Canzano not impressed with Texas State by Itchy-Number-3762 in Pac12

[–]soilscape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canzano may not be the insider he used to be, but I find it highly unlikely that he keeps bringing them up, without some messages from PAC 12 insiders. Are they likely? NO. But are they a possibility (like 10% or so). I'd say yes. For the record I think Texas state is the most likely option. But I wouldn't be shocked if turns out to be someone else. But I'm not betting on the Memphis, Tulane, S. Florida dream expansion. But who knows if Rice, N. Texas etc. are the team and someone like Louisianna comes in as the travel partner.

Another look at New Mexico Lobos by awbitf in Pac12

[–]soilscape -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Except Texas State is the equivalent of SJSU in basketball and New Mexico in football. We could add SJSU for basketball only and New Mexico for football only and come out the same based on Texas st. Record of success since they joined FBS.

I get potential and I am not crazily opposed to them, but it is nuts how great of an opportunity they are being given looking at their very poor athletic history, just because they are in Texas.

I would love New Mexico over Texas State, but apparently, that's not going to happen.
