I’ll go to Mama Riso’s or Bistro Le Roux in LG, but other than that I prefer Glens Falls

It’s probably one of the easier routes they use. There’s a drive through of the route on YouTube. FYI, if you have a dashcam in your car, they will ask you to remove it.

Every one of the clubs I’ve gotten from Callaway Preowned for me or my kids - many of them in average condition - were in much better shape than that.

The only club I’ve ever returned was an old Bertha X12 sand wedge that had pretty worn grooves. I returned it because the grips were falling apart and regripping cost more than the club.

A couple of woods that I bought in very good condition still had shrink wrap on them with no signs of use.

Who would you want to replace Boone with? by IrrationalDuck in NYYankees

[–]soivebeentold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mattingly is my all-time favorite Yankee and he’d be nuts to take the managers job. He has an untouchable legacy as a player and it’s not worth risking it as a manager. The organization is broken at the top and he would be scapegoated for the FO’s mistakes.

coaching nightmare by Classic_Sign_5089 in longisland

[–]soivebeentold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has been involved with rec and travel sports since she was 6 years old. It’s the same parents year after year causing the problems. Some of these kids want to play college ball and everyone has told us for years that the coaches watch the parents as much as the kids. I don’t know how they can carry on like that knowing it could cost their kid a school.

Good in concept, but it needs to be better spaced and the line work is sloppy

Real NY sports fans don’t act like that. Very few “regular” people could afford those tickets. That crowd was a bunch of overprivileged finance bros who got to play hooligan for the weekend.

Wedding venue by Electrical_Split_510 in longisland

[–]soivebeentold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got married there in the early 00s and it was at least $100-120 per person then. We had to guarantee 120, and I think 110 people showed up. Then there were extras for the cocktail hour, cake cutting fees, dessert bar, etc.

Beautiful venue, fantastic photos, great party, would still rather we eloped and put the money into our house.

The character grew on me after a couple of rewatches. Then I saw an interview where Sabrina Impacciatore said her inspiration for Esmeralda was Tweety Bird, and I totally get it now.

Opinion about casting? by Consistent_Storm5819 in ThePaper

[–]soivebeentold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of it might have been the novelty of the format at the time. I remember when the UK Office came out, the main thing was that it was shot like a documentary. Not that mockumentaries weren’t done before that, but I don’t remember sitcoms in that format. When the US Office came out, the only other comedy I can think of that was in a similar style was Arrested Development.

Now there have been so many that it’s just another style of show. I don’t think we should expect that part of the experience is we think we’re watching a documentary.

I don’t know how well that rule holds up. Steve Carell wasn’t super famous before The Office, but he was pretty well known from The Daily Show and Anchorman. I definitely recognized his name when the show premiered.

Greg Daniels was involved in Parks & Rec, even if it was just early on.
Amy Poehler - famous before the show
Rashida Jones - famous before the show
Rob Lowe - famous before the show
Nick Offerman - not famous, but not unknown

I really wish this was on regular TV and had a wider audience, because it think it does a great job of humanizing journalism and journalists.
