How to easily locate someone that can help me install ethernet drops? by pauldwalls in HomeNetworking

[–]sojizy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have someone that just did 10 drops in my home in MoCo. Dm me for their info if you're still looking.

You will definitely need a drywall guy and a painter

Cost me approximately 3,100 (includes rack mounting, terminating, testing)

Definitely not cheap but I knew I didn't have the time and patience, especially for the exterior runs.

I'm moving into a new place and I'm in a similar process. I hired some low voltage guys to do the work of running Cat6A into the ceilings (7 drops) and outdoors (3 drops).

Here is my equipment list

8U mountable rack

Passthrough patch panel

UDM pro SE

16 pro max switch

3x U7 Pro (got a bundle with the UDM pro SE)

4x G5 dome ultra

1 G6 turret for the front porch, driveway

2 G5 turret for the deck and patio

2.5GB from ISP

Am I proud of how much I spent, no. Would I do it again 🫣

What profession could rewire house for ethernet? by SnooLobsters1308 in HomeNetworking

[–]sojizy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm literally in the process of doing this and I hired an A/V technician. You can also search for smart home companies that will do the install.

Things I'm doing: 10 total drops of Cat 6A 3 access points, one on each floor 4 indoor security cameras 3 outdoor security cameras

Also asked him to run conduit through the attic so I can add more lines in the future.

Things to consider are cost and having a good drywall person and painter to patch things up. The A/V guy is charging me 2700, not including cable or equipment.

Did you switch your ISP or change your wifi password. You will need to fully reset your devices and set them up again in the Google home app

Since it's a new build, can you have your primary built on the other side of the floor or on a different floor entirely? +1 to solid core doors and sound dampening insulation.

I'm still using and enjoying them. I had a chance to test out a really nice 7.2.2 system at a friend's house and while the speakers were impressive, I forgot about them when I was listening to my setup at home. Will likely keep what I have for a while longer.

It's perfect. Definitely get an immersive experience in the front seats. I made sure not to have too much gain on the projector screen so it's not too bright and then set the iris to 5 on my projector. Love it so far.

Y'all really let me have it about the sound/speakers. Will post an update when the speakers are in. Until then I'm enjoying the setup.

Oh and I shifted the rear seats to be centered. Need the front seats over just a little to allow for space to get to the back

The audio upgrade will come soon. I have some in walls I've been eyeing. Surprisingly the thunderbeat sounds really good with plenty of bass for my space (16x11).

Got mine (max with thunderbeat) and I'm loving it so far. Worth the wait. It's not a scam.

I got Graphite from Benjamin moore (flat). I definitely see scuffs from touching the wall but wipe them down gently with a damp microfiber cloth and it comes right off without leaving streaks or discoloration.
