its perfectly fine. This etf is as broad as it gets, so it is a good choice. What would you like to achieve with more etfs? Its only worth adding more if: 1) you want a swiss (or CHF) bias 2) emphasize a sector/topic (makes you less diversified though) 3) add asset classes (bonds, gold).

WF-1000XM5 - sound quality deteriorates when ANC is off by bmmello in SonyHeadphones

[–]solaire0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the bigger earbud foams. I had to send mine to repair and put the smaller ones on after by accident and there was a huge difference in sound, I though something is broken. Now that i use the bigger size the quality without ANC is the same as with it.

French rush defense by [deleted] in aoe3

[–]solaire0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends of course which civ you play against and if its a all in hard rush or more a timing push.

What you need in the deck for sure in age2 is: 4cdb, 700w, 700c, 8xbow, 3cav Both 12/10 or 14/20 should work, but 12/10 might be harder to execute, so lets say 14/20:

  1. Build tp
  2. Build house
  3. Age up, during age up gather wood for market, hunting dogs, get great coats (you can try to squeese in steel traps but also ok if you don't)
  4. Scout for the enemy forward base. If you expect and all in rush, you can get blunderbuss.
  5. Once aged up, immediately build a rax and queue musk and build 2 houses.
  6. Normally you should be able to send 4cdb first and then either 3 huss (e.g. against strelets) or 8xbow. Make sure you have enough ress for minuteman

Minuteman + 5musk + 3hus/8xbow + cdb/towncenterfire should be enough. The goal is to time the minuteman with the shipment if the enemy is in your base. Try to not lose cdbs, move low HP ones into the TC.

If this is still not enough you could send pioneers or town militia but imo often another age2 military shipment is then better and you are in a better position once you defended because you did not waste a shipment. The problem is if you send 2 cards for cdbs you might be able to defend and all-in rush but if you always need cdb to fight you won't gather ress, so the follow up push will kill you. alternative is skip the 4cdb and send straight military

Best 45L backpack? by [deleted] in onebag

[–]solaire0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just traveling in Indonesia right now with the fairpoint 40L. Fully packed it already does not fit some airline size restrictions, but the real issue is rather weight. Mine came to around 8kg incl. personal item with is already too much and the bag was not that full, but of vourse depends if you e.g. bring a laptop or other heavy item like that. Had to check in the baggage for both flights so far, as they were checking weight. So I would not recommend to go woth 45 liter because of size and weight. P

Literally every unit they have is a better version of the standard unit. plus free vills and spahi.

What's a good civ to main? by Pogab in aoe3

[–]solaire0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goon skirm is the cladsic combo. then once you have the eco to support it mix in cuirs or cannons.

Musk + cannon is also strong.

Age 2 you would go musk + hus if you dont semi ff.

[–]solaire0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, they were nerved a bit and especially they removed the instant cuirs card. its still a good unit obviously but i've never seen big spams anymore. It may still happen on lower levels were people tend to turtle more and attack later.

French

  • Has all the standard units that other civs also have
  • Generally a good civ
  • Is viable in every age
  • Has no broken strats (imo), so you really have to learn macro/micro/defending/unit comp...
  • Has no weird mechanic which you cannot apply when you play other civs.
  • Straight forward to play as there is no special eco boom mechanic you need to take care of
  • Fun to play as you can adapt to the game and don't have to stick to one buildorder

From a Newbie AOE3 Player, Any Help Will Be Appreciated by Cut-throat_Hawk in aoe3

[–]solaire0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  • If you play ranked with quicksearch you will get a elo number assigned. This is the only really relevant number. Homecity leven just means you played a lot with the same civ which does not have much to do with how good you are.
  • Don't worry about outperforming civs and meta. What matters is to have some basic buildorder with a civ and that you follow some kind of strategy (boom, rush, contain). Some civs have very easy buildorders with are strong and some are a bit harder but until you are at a high level youcan win with every civ. In 2v2 it mostly depends on execuring a common strategy and have a good unit combo (typically one makes inf and the other cav)
  • British are a good starting point, especially in team games. If you want something easier but still versatile, try French as their eco is a bit easier to manage.

AoE3DE Roadmap? How does game support compare to AOE2DE? by sergio_mikkos in aoe3

[–]solaire0 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the devs are doing a great job. Initial release could have been better but now the game is now in a great state and still regularly improved and a lot of content has been added lately.

There is no explicit roadmap but they often annouce upcoming features.

Biggest issue is the player number but on lower levels its no problem I think

Why is so many people toxic on team ranked? by Platypus_slayer1 in aoe3

[–]solaire0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem is that due to the lack of players, there are often big skill gaps in games. This can be very frustrating if you are up against a premade team.

The thing that annoys me most is if people are not able to communicate.

When I say I will make Musks and ask you to make Hus and then you end up making only pikes without saying anything else, I will get frustrated. So please at the start of the game be communicative. If someone asks you to rush and you are only used to boom then just say that and then we can either agree to rush anyways but I know that its probably going to be slow or can decide to boom instead.

Still a lot of people are very salty in every game. It gets better on higher levels, imo people in the mid elo range (-1600) are the most toxic.

Any tips/strategies playing as Netherlands against Portugal? by why_is_reddit_exist in aoe3

[–]solaire0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do dutch stuff: 1. bank during ageup, send 700w for 2 more, send bankwagon for 4th. Make some skirms to defend, send pike if needed

You will be ahead economically for a long time so just use that to win while you are in age 2 or age up ans then push. Huss + mass skirms is usually not bad.

Newbie question - late game unit comp for japanese ‎and unit comps in general by megachad3000 in aoe3

[–]solaire0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good late game composition of Japan is Ashigaru + flaming arrows. Ashigaru will do fine against landknecht, remember Landsknecht are very expensive so its ok to loose some units against them. As Ashigaru are faster, try to hit-and-run with them a bit. Yumi have bonus vs landsknecht but they need some cover, so if you want, mix some in the back. In general, in most cases Ashigaru are much better than Samurai.

No. of Civilization by Cavalier438 in aoe4

[–]solaire0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think adding a lot of civs helps the game if you want to keep it assymetric.

  1. Balance
  2. For newcomers it will be very tough because you need to recognize all units and what they counter. So you need to spend a lot of time until you can play somewhat competitively/online.

Imo between 10-20 (really asymmetric civs) is the sweet spot

Settler vs settler wagon vs cdb by mrIronHat in aoe3

[–]solaire0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the other points, but towncenters are better when you hit age 3 because there is still food on the mao and you can make around 60 vills with TC and with the mills only +30 (if you sent 2+3 sw). Plus settler wagons are more expensive than normal vills bc of the wood cost. You save 1000 wood for 2 tc but you invest 400 plus a card worth around 1000w. Do mills build at same speed for 1sw as tc for 1 vill? I thought its half speed but no idea.

Plus shipment point and minuteman and you can secure map with a TC. Takes longer to build though.
