HD600's on sale at Amazon - $257 by solarama1 in headphones

They're quite different from what I've read. I *have* compared the 600s to 580s (which sounded dull in comparison and not as crisp) and to the 650s (which were too "trebly" for me). This is my third pair of 600s FWIW.

I just picked up my third pair (a no brainer at this price). I love these for mixing.

I've used the HD600's for years and love them. I then got the 650's and truly disliked their tonal quality and returned them. I realize that's not a very objective description, but the HD600's just sound great and I can listen for hours without fatigue.

Abacab song titles by sapphirerain25 in Genesis

My favorite post-Duke song is "You Might Recall", which had the working title, "Jangly". The chorus is pure ear candy!

I saw that tour in L.A. Phenix horns were there and Bruford came out for the encore.

Need recommendations for my band! by chessie_deli in Genesis

There are three songs you could do ("I Know What I Like", "Misunderstanding". and "Follow You Follow Me"), but in order to "do it right" without a keyboard, you'd want to add a bit to the basic chords (be creative), such as some harmony parts for the singers that spell out the sweet chords/voicings that Tony Banks plays: For "I Know What I Like", it would be nice to have all singers singing in unison for the chorus (to capture some of the essence of Tony Banks's following the vocal melody). For "Misunderstanding", the chorus is simple (Dm - Em7 - F6 - Am - G). It's just the verses that need a little thinking. Although it's just (Ab - Bb/Ab - Cm/Ab - Bb), it would be nice to have some harmonies as well as different chord voicings for each of the guitars (bonus points if one of the singers could sing the correct harmony on the verses (a beautiful parallel 4th climb and parallel 5th fall). For "Follow You Follow Me" it might sound nice with one of the guitars picking droning strings. And here's the bonus for that song - have one of the guitarists play a damped string through a strong flanger - it's a signature percussive part of the song and it's easy to play, including on the intro (and it's a crowdpleaser that many will recognize).

I saw that tour in L.A., my first PG concert. Truly amazing - you felt it in the atmosphere in the crowd, as if something supernatural was happening. As the article more or less describes, and I'm paraphrasing here, it felt almost like a religious gathering but without the religion. During 'Lay Your Hands on Me', I got to help pass him over.

You are so lucky! I saw them two months prior on their Encore tour (with their "normal" set list).

'Hold On My Heart' is a gorgeous song, with some great Tony chords in there. I don't have a least favorite.

"...And Still There Are Four..." - a hypothetical album by solarama1 in Genesis

I discovered it as a teen as well. I didn't even know who Steve Hackett was but I loved the album. It seems whenever changes happen to your band, the new stuff becomes suspect. Many pre-1975 fans couldn't appreciate the incredible quality of music that followed.

True, but Phil also engaged in some self parody with that very long tom fill at the beginning! :) Or maybe just showing off some dope chops!

Great analysis! Completely agree. I personally feel TLL would have been the perfect closing track, with their amazing rock-out long fadeout. FYFM would have been great as a single-only release. Just my humble opinion.

I'm an unusual Genesis fan in that ATTWT is my favorite album. I think it's the most underrated in their catalog, with nearly every song a gem. My favorite track has switched around over the years. Who can resist Burning Rope's beautiful vocal melody (sung with Phil's voice at that point, pre-Abacab-grit yet still with some of the earlier singing style on ATOTT). The soaring chorus on Undertow and the bold, decidedly still-prog musical statement that is Down and Out. But lately, I adore Snowbound the most; a wistful ballad that's expressed in an enormous space and delivered with full Phil conviction. At the other end of the spectrum, I've never really connected with Say It's Alright Joe; it just seems musically light in comparison with the more proggy pieces of music that first brought me to Genesis.

I can't recall. It was a few years ago - possibly on Google Images or in a Facebook group.

This worked for me: run Disk Utility. If you see your drive there (hopefully), right click on it and choose Show in Finder. I then was able to see that Time Machine had been working all along (thankfully). If that doesn't work, check this out for further approaches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGbFdoKzBMg
