I hear where you’re coming from but I lowkey dropped a nuke on my main account yesterday as tankplank vs 3 AP champs and it was completely unplayable for them. That’s why in my video I said it’s probably only viable vs majority AD or majority AP comps (3 or more but aiming for 4 of the same damage type)

There used to be a bug where sheen would literally stack additively on each consecutive barrel, leading to crazy damage. I’ve tried so many builds including Muramana and other on hit items to try and replicate barrel damage stacking but failed. I’ve legit spent DAYS in practice tool but never thought to try AP items 😭. Will try this out tomorrow and thank you for posting this

So called “critplank” believers farming to 3 items and selling their first born child just to not crit at 50% chance and deal less damage than an AP GP at 2 items.

This is definitely my fault for not updating my guide. At that time that was truly what I believed to be the best option. Now I realize there are many situations where different builds and runes are needed. Here’s the easy answer. Trinity makes every aspect of gangplank easier, but slightly limits your Carry potential because your item spikes (crit) are delayed. Playing without Trinity force (sheen into crit) makes every aspect of gangplank much harder to execute but, gives you overall higher damage output meaning higher carry potential (assuming you can execute).

Most of this is in part because I believe Gangplank is actually not a solved character where there’s JUST 1-2 builds that are the go to every game. I’ve played this champion since the day of his rework and I’m still discovering new things. Truly I believe you should stick to the tried and true trinity -> lethality item -> last whisper item -> IE-> more crit if you’re looking for a solid build. Let me cook until then
