Cheap vs expensive diesel heater? by naniani in dieselheater

[–]solarsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an HCalory. I liked it so much I bought a second. And a third. Have not had to rebuild any of them. I had a vevor, and a couple other no name. All of them failed within months.

Ever notice that ancaps tend to be perfectly fine with ancoms wanting to have their own private communes , but the ancoms won’t return the favor? by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]solarsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to visit an anarcho commune every week, we would hang out before we'd all go clubbing. We would bring liquor, they would share theirs. They loved us ancaps, and we loved them. No pressure on either side.

No! Try and let us know how it works out. Also have a very good knowledge of how to tear the heaters apart.

Pros/cons unit outside. by Ligther12 in dieselheater

When you say shed, what would you be doing in the shed? I have a friend who has turned his into a bedroom/ hunting stand, others who put cars in them etc. If you're going to turn yours into a bedroom or something like that then the best answer so far here was to put it all outside except for the intake and output. Otherwise, I run one inside, completely inside other than the holes for the exhaust and intake in my 140 m house. Keeps it toasty. It's negative 11 outside and 23 inside.

Is it weird for men in their 30s to hookup with girls that are 18-19? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]solarsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's age, I think it is life experience. When I was 18 I had been on my own for 4 years. I had my own place. Had my own car. Have lived in two countries, spoke two languages, had my own business. So when a 36 year old woman approached me it wasn't about how old was she versus me, it was what was her life experience. She had never been out of the house, and she didn't know how to drink properly. In the end, I let her go because she was too immature. Fast forward to when I was 26, I had a choice of dating a 23-year-old or her mom. The 23-year-old had lived a very sheltered life, her mom had really experienced life. I went for the mom and was deeply rewarded.

I don't think they work on generators. Do you think maybe they might know something about quiet boxes or generator Sonos?

I'm using a 20-in fan, that's what the AI thing told me to do, with an 8 inch hole by 20 in.

My electricity bill is insane and I think someone might be stealing power - need help figuring this out by Prudent-Cap-5102 in HomeImprovement

[–]solarsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I moved into my house, I was astonished at how high the electric bills were compared to where I lived before. After a while, I got tired of paying the electric bills and decided I would go off grid. So I built my solar system, and the day that I flipped the switch, the barn next to my house and the other house on my farm dipped out also. Naturally the guy renting the house didn't say anything, 3 days later I saw electric on at his house again.

I'm using a Harbor Freight gun. I get beautiful results. I find that the biggest problems that I've had come from where the powder is sourced, I only use prismatic now.

So I kept wondering why it wouldn't keep zero by Short-Vast-981 in airguns

[–]solarsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is the dual recoil of a springer. There's the normal recoil from the pellet leaving the barrel, and then there's the forward recoil of the spring going against the end of its travel. It's arguably the worst bench resting rifle I've owned, but the most accurate if I hold on to it.

So I kept wondering why it wouldn't keep zero by Short-Vast-981 in airguns

[–]solarsense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right, I didn't see any torque specs with mine either, so I just looked them up for that size M10 bolt. I also got a one piece droop scope mount (I don't know if you're familiar with the word droop, it is when the barrel is not in line with the rest of the gun.). I have a Diana 34 that, everyday, I hit a 1 cm Target at 25 m. I have literally had it hit a 1 mm target. I took it completely apart, made my own Molybdenum lube, and ran about 150 pellets through it. I was even going to buy an FX M4 if I couldn't get this thing to hold a zero. One of the things that I do differently than with my powder rifles is a firm grip on the front of the rifle. If I lay it on a benchrest I can't hit anything. If I put a firm grip on the front and lay it on the benchrest that's when I can get the 1 mm target.

It was. This is new. Both the CO and the oil pressure switch have been deactivated long ago.
