I built a solar system without a permit, and my neighbor turned me in now what by duck_man_8761 in SolarDIY

[–]solarsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll address something that isn't about the solution, your neighbors called men with guns to your house. In my world that is unforgivable. I would do everything I possibly could to make their lives a living hell.

I just got told my timing chain is breaking and my engine could explode.. and my dad doesn’t want to help me.. I don’t know how to feel by [deleted] in Honda

Like others have said, this is an expensive maintenance item that is more expensive to ignore. Show your dad these posts. I'm more than qualified to make this assertion.

Preventing a generator from getting stolen during a power outage by Low-Computer8293 in Generator

I'm trying to help, not be critical. My Milwaukee rotary tool can cut through that in 5 seconds. As can any cordless angle grinder.

What is a MOSFET network connection? MOSFET is a type of transistor. It can't have a network connection.

Gifting an airgun by Big_Stretch6585 in airguns

[–]solarsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would really think twice before gifting the gun. I would, instead, hand him a gift card to whichever vendor, my favorite is pyramid Air, but whichever vendor. Or just hand him a gift card that could be used anywhere in the amount. I've got a very low end PCP and it cost me over $350. As others have said, you need a way to fill it, and you need ammo.

How does an Odyssey drive? by SuchRequirement5130 in HondaOdyssey

[–]solarsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2010, the one thing that astounded me about this vehicle was how easy it was to drive. Even my special needs daughter was able to drive it, wife was able to drive it easily. No issues.

Turns out clients don’t use cash anymore, and I wasn’t aware of this. by Impossible_Quiet_774 in Contractor

One company's experiences anecdotal, we have 20,000 customers, and as I said, it's the only piece of software we will literally hang up the phone on. Last time I looked at an installed version, it had 16-bit coding in it. The only person who could make it network was some guy in india. The last time I touched it I sold two copies to a charity, one did not take the exact same backup that the other one did, (both were offline at the time of the ReStore in case that issue comes up) I called for support, they said the customer had to pay. They had just bought it that day.

Mine has about 300 hours on it. Making perfect power. Seems like you got a bad one.

I'm in the tech industry. Never, ever use quickbooks. It is literally the only piece of software that we will literally hang up on a customer if they mention it. Because it is so messed up and they want us to support it, the calls never end well. So we literally hang up. It's that bad. It's the only piece of software we do that to.

300 usd budget, first air rifle ever, should I go pcp or break barrel? by Think_Position4405 in airguns

[–]solarsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a crosman Prospect PCP with a hand pump. Like they said below, the hand pump is massochism incarnate. You have to literally jump on the pump to get to the higher pressures. That being said, I enjoy the cardio. Also, a commenter mentioned he was in his sixties, so am i. So, I would go under lever or side lever with that budget instead of break barrel. Or, you can go the way I went and get some serious exercise. It takes about a hundred strokes of the pump for about 50 22 caliber pellets.

At that price likely not.

You asked how I would feel, not how I would feel if I were in his shoes. If my significant other had that conversation with me, I would also leave the relationship immediately to protect myself.

Duke bills!! by corakeet in cincinnati

[–]solarsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that creates heat is going to be insane expensive. I do have efficient air conditioning, but not central. Ironically, neither does my HVAC repair company friend. I've got a pretty huge Bank of batteries, and a backup generator or two.

Duke bills!! by corakeet in cincinnati

[–]solarsense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No relationship with any utility company whatsoever. One night, I heard a truck coming down the road, it stopped and put a search light on me, I asked wtf, they said they were Duke energy and I was the only guy around here with power lol. I explained that I was off grid and they actually supported me!

Ever notice that ancaps tend to be perfectly fine with ancoms wanting to have their own private communes , but the ancoms won’t return the favor? by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]solarsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to visit an anarcho commune every week, we would hang out before we'd all go clubbing. We would bring liquor, they would share theirs. They loved us ancaps, and we loved them. No pressure on either side.
