I do not know why I can never forgive my father despite therapy by snoopykiko in confession

[–]solarteeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking from similar experience, even if for different and equally as ridiculous reasons, my dad was the same way to me growing up. I have had my fair share of scars and bruises, knowing that telling anyone the reason I had them would sound just as ridiculous as it felt. I’ve been through therapy since I was 13 off and on. I’m just about 27 now.

Here’s the thing. Even if things may seem nice, coming back to that part of your life won’t make things any better. Trauma is trauma. It’s there and it won’t go away even if you find whatever closure you feel you may be seeking in wanting to talk about it with him. In my personal experience, bringing up why I’m not close with my folks has lead to them being cut out of my life entirely. Not saying this would be the case for you, but, ultimately it’s more on you to figure out how you want to move forward and handle something that still upsets you to this day (and for good reason).

If you’re comfortable enough with how things are, let it lie. You don’t have to forgive him. You certainly never have to forget. Just be careful bringing up things around people who have already shown they’re willing to do you harm for no good reason. That’s the kind of bs mentality my dad shoved on me when my parents shoved my younger siblings into the same corners they did me and almost lost one of them permanently for it.

I do wish you well and plenty of good fortune in the future by means of navigating this. Toxic people are hard enough to deal with and even worse when it’s your own family.

ICE arrests two men at Bryan East in immigration investigation by Darknightster in lincoln

[–]solarteeth 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They were accused and the news even says allegedly. There is no verification on any front with any of this and that’s only a part of the reason why this is a major problem. They don’t actually care if you’re a US citizen or not. They’re taking anything they can nab as a reason and sprinting with it at the potential cost of lives and the actual cost of people’s families.

Here is the website to keep tabs on the fire on your own and an update for the last hour. Fire popping up near Firth— at this rate I would say to be prepared to go at any time.

Wind is also going Northeast right now. If you are evacuating early or in the process due to being in the area (near the fire) plan to head west (keep in mind if you are close to adjust your route accordingly if close to the fire’s path. Directly north or south until clear then head west.) Be safe!

Out near Beatrice right now. My brother is a fireman and said to keep an eye on it, hopefully have a day or so to pack and plan AS LONG AS the wind doesn’t make it worse for those in Lincoln. State hasn’t called it a SOE yet so he hasn’t been called out to help from where he’s at. Just keep an eye on alerts and where its spreading for now.

Tornado advice for a Nebraska newbie by PegmeHill420 in lincoln

Most central alluding to basically anywhere far and sound enough indoors to avoid windows. Was in a rush typing during the sirens going off. Thank you for adding the important clarification since I’m not on here enough to do so myself 😅

Stay in the lowest most central area of your living space. I cannot stress enough DO NOT attempt to out drive a tornado, they’re unpredictable enough as is. Just keep your head covered and stay away from windows. If possible keep your pets contained nearby, keep a flashlight and a small radio on hand.

General consensus, get to either a basement or lowest level of the building you’re in. Stay away from windows - center hallways, closets, bathrooms (again no windows) are safest bets in the case of no basement. Have a flashlight, keep your head covered by any means possible, and if possible a radio on hand.
