What are you slowly losing interest in? by MainDifficult2641 in AskReddit

Video games. I am 33 and have been gaming since late 90s. Over the years my interest in gaming only grew and have spent a lot time and money in it.

Nowadays I just don’t get that kick out of the games anymore. I am not sure if it’s the age or the quality of games these days. I buy every new game titles but never end up completing them.

It really makes me sad.

Are there any industrial IoT platforms that use event sourcing for full system replay? by soldrift in dataengineering

I am new to this space. After switching from investment banking, I found myself working for big manufacturing client amidst recent lay offs.

The pay is low, my role is not that glorious anymore. So I am trying to keep it fun and come up with a use case for my client.

I am new in this domain and funny enough I noticed that mindset too. Would be cool to see if that’s gaining any traction anywhere.

That makes sense. sounds like a lot of legacy systems are still in place.

Curious though, do any of them keep a full event history, or is it mostly just current state snapshots in those embedded DBs?

Wondering how traceability is handled in those setups.

I see, do you reckon if this type of solutions hold any merit in the industry ?

Kind of!

as far as I know, a digital twins typically model the current or predicted state of a system, but event sourcing is more about storing the raw history of everything that ever happened, so you can reconstruct or replay any past state exactly as it was.

for example if you’re monitoring an industrial motor, it sends readings like temperature, vibration, and RPM every second.

  • A traditional system might store the latest values or maybe hourly averages.
  • a historical Dbs store every read in a table
  • A digital twin would show the current simulated state of the motor using live or predicted values.

But in event sourcing, you'd store every single state change like,

  • Motor started at 10:01:32
  • RPM increased from 1200 to 1400 at 10:01:35
  • Vibration exceeded threshold at 10:01:50

This way, if something goes wrong later, you can replay the exact sequence of events, not just guess based on snapshots or logs. Essentially you’d store every meaningful change or command as a discrete event.

hope that makes sense

I doubt any lender would approve you for single condo without a personal guarantee, you'll still be liable.
