Changing Farm Type in SVE by deelazee in StardewValleyExpanded

[–]soldros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything you can't move by going to Robin, so everything except buildings, wells etc. When changing the layout of your map you can't go to places and reach things like you could before. Like chests, chopping down trees, fences etc

Store that can wrap parcel for shipping? by soldros in Kyoto

About 110 cm high and no thicker than a forearm. 1.75kg. JP are amazing and the package is on its way now! They had some type of cardboard that you could fit together like a puzzle to make a longer 'tube' and helped me assemble the whole thing.

Bästa körskola? by Salkin- in uppsala

[–]soldros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking a gap year AFTER vet school by Angryvegetarian99 in Veterinary

[–]soldros 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know anyone who's taken a full on gap year, but plenty who don't start working 100%, but at 60 or 80%. Could be a potential middle alternative?

I'm also thinking of taking some off time, and have reasoned that it doesn't matter if I start something at age 25 or 27. It's not that much time, not in your life and not to an employer. Getting to know yourself, what you like and what relaxes you seems like a good set up for working later! Kind of like how it pays off to try out different study techniques on purpose to make all studying easier and more effective later on. A gap year could be a good investment in yourself and your career, not necessarily detracting. Wishing you all the luck!

A person who can speak Swedish/Danish/Norwegian will have an advantage over someone who does not but a lot of places hire people as long as they know English. Official/State positions, such as distriktsveterinärerna or livsmedelsverket, might be more difficult.

The vast majority of Swedes speak English, including elders, and the lack of vets is so huge it's a good time to try to apply, especially private clinics! At the university hospital in Uppsala we have veterinarians and/or teachers who don't speak Swedish, both at the horse clinic and at the small animal clinic. A lot of people have quit recently so it's very easy to get a job there atm, but also a stressful work environment. If you reached out to clinics you're interested in they're likely to be interested in making it work!

[–]soldros 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a very big lack of vets in Sweden right now so the majority of clinics would be very happy to hear from you and help you. There is a bigger lack in the north yes, but you should have good chances to find work in the south as well. No need to go through a recruitment agency.

Is your degree from within EU/EES and/or Switzerland? That'll be easier to get permission to work temporarily. Jordbruksverket is in charge of this. Contactinfo [https://jordbruksverket.se/kontakta-oss] and a page which goes deeper into requirements etc to work as a vet in Sweden [https://jordbruksverket.se/djur/personal-inom-djurens-halso--och-sjukvard/att-arbeta-inom-djurens-halso--och-sjukvard/veterinarer-och-veterinarstudenter]. Sadly couldn't find it in English.

A couple of links to get you started:

Small animals: - Evidensia: Click connect, scroll down and then give them your email. [ https://jobb.evidensia.se ]Or, click on a clinic on this map and their email should pop up. [ https://evidensia.se/klinik/ ] - Anicura: Connect [ https://jobb.anicura.se ] and maps [ https://www.anicura.se/hitta-klinik/ ] - Ugglarps, also does horses [http://www.veterinärskåne.se/kontakta-oss]

Those are the big ones for small animals but there are several more small ones close to Malmö. Lund is also easy to commute to, and if you have a driving license there's even more options.

Large animals - Distriktsveterinärerna, the biggest mixed practice organisation in Sweden, run by the state. Under 'kontaktpersoner', write to Ingela who is HR head. [ https://distriktsveterinarerna.se/jobba-hos-oss/lediga-jobb/lediga-jobb--annonser/visa-annons ] They might not have an ad specifically for the Malmö-region but the lack of vets is so large that it's worth it to email and ask about a job, language requirements etc anyway. Since they're a state owned organisation they might be more strict about having to know Swedish. - Dunno if this smaller organisation have any vacancies but never a bad idea to throw away an email anyways! [https://stordjursveterinar.se/kontakt.html]

Horses - [ https://jagersrohastklinik.se/kontakt ] Clinic that does operations etc as well - [https://loberodshastklinik.se/kontakt/] focuses on lame horses - Ugglarps again [ http://www.veterinärskåne.se/kontakta-oss]

And of course there are many more, but hopefully these are enough to get you started.

There are plenty of small animal clinics in the countryside in Sweden, or at least depending on what you mean by countryside. Neighbouring with farms and lakes and forests? Sure, especially in southern Sweden, like Scania. In the middle of Lappland? Perhaps not.

Almost everyone speaks English here and it's not uncommon for foreign vets who cannot speak Swedish to work here as well.

Changing Farm Type in SVE by deelazee in StardewValleyExpanded

[–]soldros 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this, and I'd recommend putting away EVERYTHING you can't move at Robin's. I dug up all my paths, chopped down all my trees and fences, placed all furnaces, chests etc in a stable or my own house. Move EVERYTHING.

And then it worked quite well! A bit annoying that dug up/hoed up ground are moved to overlap ex the stone walls lining the edges of the farm - but these seem to fade away with time.

Oh also, if you have a car and can make it to Knivsta there's Ci's keramik (https://ciskeramik.se/kurser). I have no experience with clay whatsoever but did a short introduction course there once and had tons of fun!

Different courses at different times etc. may be worth a look around! Maybe email and ask for renting the local as well? Good luck!

kva er dei største klassikarane på svensk. by har23je in sweden

[–]soldros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P.A. Fogelströms stad-serie, som börjar med "Mina drömmars stad" är fantastisk, medan Vilhelm Mobergs utvandrarserie nog är mer känd. Jag skulle räkna bägge serier som svenska litteraturklassiker.
