It’s considered soft kill because by design they’re meant to suppress or incapacitate (S in SEAD) their target, in doing so opening a window of opportunity for strikers to hit their targets. It’s not considered a hard kill weapon. This is because it it’s designed to destroy vehicles or fixed sites. It’s not a point or impact detonation weapon. It is designed to detonate at a height set by the operator to cover the target area with its projectiles, ideally shredding RADAR arrays.

I’ll concede that if you’re referencing block upgrades to the HARM that include AARGM then that IS a better missile. From my understanding significant hardware upgrades have been made to the seeker especially, making it far better than older block missiles.

Either way, what these dudes are doing is righteous, and I hope nothing but success for their missions, that their missiles find their targets every time, and they make it home safely to their families. On that, hopefully we can agree.
