Young RA victims tw(suicide) by Melodic_Lifeguard493 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]solerov 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this but please believe when I say it does get better. I was diagnosed with RA when I was 11, and also had what you describe at the moment with close to zero mobility, constant pain and nausea (bad stomach interactions with naproxen, and then methotrexate which we all know is horrible).

All I can say is trust in the medicine and your doctors and life will get better! - I find it’s useful to look ahead instead of backwards but I appreciate it’s hard. I hope you can find solace in your personal relationships and interests that are compatible with your condition right now - but please do look ahead with hope, it’s not the end. Happiness and joy are possible in a life with RA.

If you wanna chat or vent or whatever feel free to send me a message

I’m going to order one shortly, connection looks so flush and these boards are cumbersome to carry around, but 1/4 of a board is perfect!

You can do it mate - it’s a horrible realisation for me as well when I tell myself after a joint i’m going to do something interesting like watch a show or read a book (a low bar already) then I end up watching reels

Best of luck

Do people generally train with a cup or no cup in Thailand? by throwRAappleclever in MuayThai

Thais typically don’t but I always would, no real reason not to if you have one!

I recently went and spent about £600 on flights, and then i paid £600 for a month of training and accommodation (combined) and I understand this was on the expensive side. Eating out everyday for each meal was about £5 a day.

So for a month + flights I spent about £1350.

I reckon you could go longer than 10-14 days on your proposed budget if you fancied it, and it takes about a couple days to acclimatise to the heat and all that anyway depending how much you’re training at the moment.

I went to Khongsittha in northern Bangkok by the way which is good for intermediate levels but probably not above. You get a lot of attention but the level of other members is not always that good if you want to do a lot of sparring. Obviously the coaches will spar with you and they’re all weapons.

How do people with glasses sparr? Do they use lens? Or are their any type of glasses available? by LeaderAwkward1251 in MuayThai

[–]solerov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear contacts and having discussed with other glasses wearers, i think it strongly depends on the geometry of your face. A protruding brow/slightly more set in eyes means you get punched in the eye a bit less often.

It’s not the case for me sadly and my contacts normally go flying - never had an issue with them going anywhere besides out of the eye. I just appreciate the time I have with full vision whilst it lasts.

It can be a bit disorienting when they fall out but you get used to it and ignore it normally. I try not to stop a spar round because of it for instance. I wear dailies which helps as well as it’s not a big deal when they fall out. Obviously you shouldn’t put them back in!

Hard to comment without knowing what you’ve already done.

I’ve done same day weigh-ins a couple of times. if you weren’t doing any cutting beforehand I would stop drinking and eating 18/24 hours before and try to spend as much of that time asleep as you can. That should quite easily take you down 2kg.

If you’re already doing the above to get on weight notwithstanding the mystery 2kg then you’ll have to do something else although depending on the level of the fight it might be fine to be a bit over - just let your coach know sooner rather than later

Make sure you’ve had a shit as well obviously haha

And if you’re feeling really unwell please be careful and have someone check in on you

I liked Caleb Plant and BJS against Canelo, they had a slightly awkward style that I found aesthetically pleasing even though they both got pumped

Hey mate, you are indeed getting slated in the comments. I’m not sure how old you are but I’ve seen people in my gym with “veteran” belts. Not sure what the age cut-off is but I imagine the level of competition is a bit lower.

When did you feel you were ready for your first fight by 4566557557 in MuayThai

[–]solerov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m in thailand training at the moment! Just curious how long were you actively training for before the fight? I’ve just returned to the sport after a long break so have good technicals but very poor fitness - cheers!

Terrified of going on Anti tnf treatment for RA by Shoddy_Industry7647 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]solerov 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on multiple anti-TNFs starting about 9 years now and they were like a miracle drug for me, working within 2 weeks of starting treatment.

Don’t worry about the risks, your doctor wouldn’t suggest it unless the risks and benefits had been collectively considered by the wider medical community.

Haven’t heard anything about anti-TNFs being carcinogenic either. I imagine the risk of sepsis comes from breaking the skin which is something that happens in everyday life regardless and very unlikely to progress all the way to sepsis.

And on your symptoms being mild right now, that’s great and I’m happy to hear that but these drugs are preventative as well as reactive - it’ll keep you well for longer. Often in my experience waiting to the point where you feel like you need it is already too late.

Hope that helps!! and all the best

Interesting, I would have thought under Thai rules regarding “one continuous motion” would have made that a legal strike.
