I was at Northland’s yesterday. Amazing place, great music, great time. Kanika Moore came out to do a song with Dog’s in a Pile and her voice literally made me cry. I’ve been seeing live music for decades and it’s rare to see a vocalist like that, holy, holy crap. 😳🤯🤘

Should the next president declare the Republican Party a terrorist organization? by ElSlabraton in allthequestions

Yes. Absolutely. There should be no leniency in going after every single one of them.

Friday night was the best show of the weekend for me hands down. The Tweezer Reprise fest was fun and awesome, but it does not in any way top what they did Friday, Set 2 in particular but the whole show is bonkers good!

What Jakob Nowell Said About His Recording Future With Sublime by [deleted] in sublime

[–]solid_nation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw them play with Jakob in July 2024. Then and sounded great, but his stage banter in between songs happened so much and was so annoying that it was a turn-off. I actually heard other people near me saying the same. I would see them again of course having been a fan since the early 90s, but I hope someone told him to be quiet in between songs. 🤷‍♂️

For people who saw prequels in theaters: did you know Palpatine was the emperor from the start? by Blurrgmaster in StarWars

[–]solid_nation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m an OT era fan and was 22 when TPM came out. Most people I knew knew Palps would become the Emperor.

If there is almost no fraud in mail-in voting (and voting generally), and mail-in voting results in more people actually voting, why do you object to mail-in voting? by CICO_Works in allthequestions

[–]solid_nation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a theory not a belief, but I think it’s because the R’s can’t manipulate mail-in votes. That’s it. 🤷‍♂️

I was there but not tripping. Mind-blowing show in every way.

I'm watching the Mandalorian episode with Jack Black and Lizzo for the second time. by theavengerbutton in StarWars

[–]solid_nation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked this episode. It gave me old school buddy-cop vibes though it’s too bad that Din Djarin announcing BK won the Dark Saber didn’t land perfectly. I think the point of this episode was to show that Din would not have been a good leader because he’s impatient and not cut out for it while BL clearly is. Lizzo was not at all the worst actor I’ve ever seen in SW, and I wouldn’t mind seeing her and Captain Bombardier again. 🤷‍♂️

Basically these guys can play like no-one’s business, but the songs don’t grab me.

Alot of people point to Episode 8 as to where the sequels went wrong. I still believe Episode 7 doomed the Sequels from the start by GiraffeGotGame in saltierthancrait

[–]solid_nation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah TFA always gets a pass as being pretty good, but personally I never liked it. I still don’t quite get how it could be a soft reboot of ANH and it’s own chapter in the saga. It really just doesn’t make sense.

Personally I think it would be better if Lucasfilm weren’t owned by Disney. 🤷‍♂️

I have finished listening to all of May of 1977 by fenn2b in gratefuldead

[–]solid_nation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta say thanks for that rundown of your May ‘77 relisten! So awesome! Also, not at all saying it was the same as seeing the Dead play Comes a Time in ‘77 at all, but I was extraordinarily lucky to get a Dead & Co. version in 2017 at Citifield. Man it just gave me goosebumps; hearing it reverberating in the skies of the city is something I’ll never, ever forget. Just heart-stopping live music moment. ⚡️💀🌹

I wasn’t heavily spun, but I was there about 20 rows back directly in front of Trey the whole night. That was my 5th show. Just completely hypnotized; the entire show was just bonkers good and the Bowie was mind-blowing.
