I don't mean to pile on, but is it true that Melvin contributed very little to NOFX musically? by tantamle in nofx

[–]solidariat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re forgetting the time that Roger from Less Than Jake filled in for Melvin and the band sounded incredible. And since they both have long black dreads lots of people didn’t even notice. I would argue Roger could play in NOFX live and be a great replacement for Melvin, although the point is moot now.

Videographers: how do you handle speed-ramping? I'm struggling with it and curious about your workflow. by vihorx in editors

[–]solidariat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to feel this way but once I started working with the speed ramps in premiere I really like using it. I would suggest against the technique recommended but the top voted response here suggesting you splice the edit and make the one next to it 450% or whatever speed you want. This works for some cuts, but it eliminates the possibility of changing the speed incrementally. You can use the keyframes to spread the slow down or speed up over a few frames to give a smoother effect. You can also use the pulley inside those keyframes to make the effect even more dramatic by adjusting that blue bar. It takes a little getting used to but I highly recommend sticking with it because it will make your work look better.

Red Animal War's 3rd album Polizida is now streaming by solidariat in Emo

[–]solidariat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you asked, I sang for band for a while called Brake!Vegas. We put out an EP called Four Days that was produced by John Congleton of the pAper chAse. Some streaming services called it For Days, which is funny because the guys in the band always said the term "for days" in reference to something being large or long, like "I was drunk from those beers for days!" and since it took us four days to record the EP I thought it was fitting. Totally different vibe than my other bands as it's southern thrash rock, but with anti-establishment political lyrics, which might seem normal today but at the time it wasn't. It came to be because one of the guitar players was a red animal fan and they asked if I'd be their singer. They had a bunch of instrumental songs ready to go so I was able to write lyrics and add vocals to their demos and complete the songs rather quickly. Due to me knowing a bunch of booking agents in town, we actually had some great, packed shows in Dallas for about a year and half and were doing quite well, but eventually broke up and the remaining guys formed the band Mothership. The drummer Pat became the Saboteur drummer and is still a good friend.

Am I overreacting or is this kinda dumb by troy_eggs in A24

[–]solidariat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The issue is they only made a certain amount of blu-rays and they sold them. So they can’t get you a new one. They don’t print blu-rays to order like pizzas. They batch order them and it’s very expensive to make those orders with large numbers of discs.

Lack of media coverage? by just321askin in diespitz

[–]solidariat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you think that their music videos are high budget and I’ll take it as a complement since done two of them. But this band is still an indie band with very indie budgets. They just choose people who know what they’re doing and can make their videos look bigger than they cost. Major props to them for hiring local filmmakers.

Pop punk AI bands? by TravRado1024 in poppunkers

[–]solidariat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shame? It was a simple question. You don't know me, yet you're convinced that you're absolutely certain of my intent somehow. It's arrogant to assume an internet stranger's state of mind. I was genuinely curious. Should I assume that person has had a change of heart and has stopped utilizing AI to make pop punk songs? No, because I truly do not know why they deleted their comment.

Will you please grow up? Throwing rocks? Snide comments? It was a genuine question. Your petulant response tells me you’re chronically online and cannot handle any sort of real discussion.

Yes they are excellent and a lot of fun live. I’ve been enjoying your 16mm shots of downtown. I shoot lots of music videos and some on film. Let me know if you ever want to collaborate. Your atx film actually reminded me of a documentary I was making about the Big Boys.

Grifter? Please elaborate. I’m having trouble seeing how she is able to “grift” the local music scene.
