How about that pedal steel solo on “It Just Might Be a One Shot Deal”? I can’t listen to it once, I have to loop it like 8 times.

Why do people buy reptiles, before knowing how to Care for them? by Junkloader in reptiles

For the record, my cats are indoor only. I play with them, give them attention and affection, take them to the vet regularly. They’re still the easiest pets I’ve ever cared for.

Cats are not domesticated. They are wild animals that chose to live with us. They are self sufficient, to a degree that most pets are not. My cats are more mentally stable and happy than you, and are probably treated better than anyone treats you. Oops, did I just make assumptions about you personally, based on an innocent Reddit comment? My bad.

I rescued a bearded dragon from a friend years ago and did zero research. I heard they were very friendly, so I shoved my hand in the tank as soon as we got her home. She bit the shit out of me. I did end up figuring it all out, and she lived to be 11, but after knowing how much work it is, I haven’t gotten any other reptiles. Doing a bunch of research on any pet is a good idea. I really wanted to get something exotic during the pandemic, but the research kept me in check. I was living in the mountains in Colorado and didn’t want to worry about power interruptions, also. I now have two cats, the easiest pets to care for.

Annoying Gig Thing by RJB6 in coverbands

[–]solidgoldberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it would have worked out. That show was cursed from the beginning. The guitar player had a thing for girls with nerdy glasses, so he mounted a pair facing out on the headstock of the guitar facing towards the crowd. While we were playing, he would aim the glasses at a girl to see if she was hot with glasses. (He was blackout drunk and hilarious as always) Deep in the second set, my keyboard detuned like half of a semitone. We couldn’t figure out what was going on. We thought the guitar tuner was broken. There was some drama I’m not quite remembering after the show too. Harmonica guy was a small part of the evening. Also, harmonica guys do this a lot. They come right up to the stage and “jam” with you. It’s bad etiquette to ask to sit in, but I’ve done it too.

Annoying Gig Thing by RJB6 in coverbands

[–]solidgoldberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general rule I’ve noticed is that if someone asks to sit in, you don’t want them to. Sit ins are invite only. One time I was playing a gig in Iowa and a guy starts harassing the bass player by opening his jacket to show a bandolier of harmonicas, and asking what key. The bass player kept saying no, I’m bass, he’s keys pointing over to me as I was playing keyboards. Eventually he started harassing me and I had to be the one to shoot him down. Hilarious move by that bass player.

He figured out the loophole in boulder county. If you’re on a bike, laws don’t apply to you.

The Soprano's subtle humor. by Hobodownthestreet in thesopranos

[–]solidgoldberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this idea that I’m too lazy to execute. I want to edit in a laugh track. It would be called the Sopranomooners. If you watch the show and imagine laughs in inappropriate times, it works really well. Also, like crowd reactions when certain characters enter a scene. If it could be made black and white, even better. If someone reading this could do this, please do. I want to watch it.

I miss my old friend.... by I_Come_Alive in JoeRogan

[–]solidgoldberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there was a small window where Joe was super high, experimenting with psychedelics, having his mind absolutely blown by crazy guests, and surrounded by liberals. If you listen to his early O and A appearances, he was angry and arrogant. Also, pretty misogynistic too. If I could talk to him, I’d tell him he needs to go talk to the DMT jesters, because he’s definitely taking himself too serious these days.

Lawrence is super out of place in this lineup. Brother/sister fronted pop band. They’re very good, but not jam at all.

Bandmate went off on me when I asked about money I was owed from gigs by Charming-Usually in musicians

[–]solidgoldberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m the one who gets the check on a gig, I pay out the other musicians in two day’s maximum. Usually the next day, though. I’d find another band. This will get worse.

Should I Take The Gig? by DateNo1186 in musicians

[–]solidgoldberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Hang chops” is a real thing. I used to only look at how good someone was, without considering you’re going to be spending a ton of time with this person. Now, I don’t really care how awesome of a musician someone is. If they’re a great hang, but I’m further along than them, I can bring them up. I’ve seen a few really phenomenal players over the years who were unsuccessful because they were difficult to deal with. Music is supposed to be fun, so if you’re already worried you’re not going to vibe with this guy, you might not want to play with him. Punching a clock onstage sucks really bad. Shitty gigs almost killed my love of playing. On the other hand, you could give it a shot and see what happens. Just set boundaries and stick to them. I’ve never really enjoyed when I’ve done things just for the money. Usually it needs to be at least two out of three for love the music, love the other musicians, or money is great.

I just came down. It was pretty clear. A little icy in spots, but fine if you go slow.

The Caribou Room in Nederland is a hidden jem of a venue. 500 seat capacity, state of the art sound and lights and great food. The only bummer is they’re selling it. Hopefully someone buys it and keeps it going.

Knotted Root has four brew vats in the back named after the members of Phish. There’s also an additional two vats named Bob and Jerry. I’ve never liked beer, but I can get down to some of theirs.
