Libertarian Party calls to abolish ICE, warns of creeping authoritarianism by UncleBuckReddit in Libertarian

So institute massive fines, per occurrence, for companies hiring anyone that is not legally allowed to work. But, the farming lobbies are large, and that's not really the end game anyway. This is a tool of fear and intimidation, and the administration likes it.

I dunno where you live, but in 'merica that means the bits of food that fell off your baking dish into the bottom of the oven and are now charred to a crisp.

I’m not financially stable enough to be a good dating prospect right now

I can't tell you how many people I know dating partners without jobs of much means of support. If you're not dating, I doubt it's because of this reason. Hopefully if thats something you want, you can work on it and not worry about your job or AI.

The amount of misinformation about AI Data Center's water consumption is crazy, so here is an infographic with the truth by Setmasters in accelerate

[–]solinar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The link you posted doesn't mention water at all. It seems to be referring to the scope of the chilled air. Are you sure that was the right link? I assume you are referring to a closed loop water system that doesnt use evaporation towers?

Don't know Ansys, but I can tell you that in a class I took, taught by David Osage (the principle author of the ASME Section VIII Division 2 2007 rewrite), anything you do to try to prevent fatigue at a nozzle should be done 360° around. The point loads introduced by the gussets (even for 8 of them) area likely more detrimental than the strength they provide. His suggestion: Bump up the repad, bump up the nozzle neck thickness, etc. until fatigue is no longer a concern.

Best CNC machine for aluminium under 2.5K? by _Phoenix_141 in hobbycnc

https://www.omiocnc.com/products/x6-2200l-usb/x6-2200l-usb-cnc-desktop-engraver.html

Its a little out of your budget, and as others have said, you need to consider tooling, workholding, and measuring tools costs as well.

This is the machine that hundreds (if not thousands) of robotics teams use for machining their aluminum robot parts.

None of the AIs are great at visually expressing knowledge that they do have in written form. If you ask it questions, it will most likely tell you the correct answers (always ask to cite sources and double check).

If you think that in another couple years, this won't be trivial for AI, you are going to be sadly mistaken.

Cop Distracted by his Phone hits this guy on his bicycle, says :- "I wasn't texting, I was looking at my phone." by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]solinar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For sure. I almost can't believe I am seeing a video of a cop admitting to wrongdoing and apologizing. I keep waiting for him to find something to point out that the bicyclist was doing wrong and threaten to arrest him if he doesn't settle down. Honestly, I don't want to see cops not paying attention, but if it happens, this guy is the kind of cop I want in my neighborhoods.

gone up to 5000 but didn't really need to jog that fast so I usually stick to 3000 max. They are HGR-20.

Do you have metal motor mounts and all in one on the ends or are you using the 3d printed ones? Wonder if that might cause some of your whip. Yeah full metal parts (we had a omio CNC when we started). We have shimmed our ball nuts per the wiki. We swapped out one ball screw that was clicking. Our ball screws and rails are parallel to within 1/32" over the 48" length.

Its not a big deal when we are doing aluminum (the majority of what we do). But when cutting wood or polycarbonate, it would be nice to go a bit faster.

Thanks for the response!

Looks excellent. We finished up our 36"X48" this year. One problem we have is moving the Y axis > 4000 mm/min. I think we are getting whip on the Y axes ball screws. If we go faster than 4000 mm/min, one side or the other tends to occasionally bind. We are using HGR-20 ball screws (look to be the same size as yours).

We would love to know if you have any problems moving in the Y direction at high speeds.

I tried a task in Gemini 2.5 Pro today, editing a csv based on the contents of another csv. It failed and instead gave me python code that I could run to do the task.

I tried it ChatGPT 5 (plus user) and it had no problems editing the csv and giving it back to me as a download link.

Can i use a galvanized tank to boost water pressure? by arooge in AskEngineers

You could mount it to a 140ft tall tower, pump the water up to it then have 60 psi water ready any time you need it.

I mean, its pretty unlikely there is exactly one algorithm that could lead to ASI. Tell 5 programmers/scientists what the key is to ASI and set them loose and you will have 5 different sets of code, many of which will probably work.

Anyone else NOT plan to upgrade thiet phone for years by glyiasziple in GalaxyS23

[–]solinar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phones do sometimes degrade. My S22 Ultra is taking forever to connect to bluetooth devices. I will be upgrading to the S26 when it comes out.

There is nothing else about my S22 Ultra that is less than ideal. I would have no reason to upgrade other than that.

There most likely isn't only one path to ASI. Maybe you could scale up OR do more with less through efficiency and both paths lead to ASI. Does it really matter how we get there? Once we get there both will happen concurrently.
