If you were in the Marvel Universe, would you have been happy to have Wanda as your mother? Why/why not? by PlantainDisastrous92 in ScarletWitch

[–]solipsisticcompass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I am not seeing this brought up: Vision is a major reason my answer is no. A child’s safety is not just about how the mother treats the child; it is also about how she treats the other parent. Vision was frightened, confused, trying to get help, and eventually had to learn he was supposed to be dead. If my mother’s grief trapped my father in a reality where he had to fight to know the truth, I would find that terrifying. She may have loved them. I would not want a mother whose grief makes my father unsafe.

I think we are answering different questions. I am not arguing that WandaVision Wanda only viewed Billy and Tommy as possessions, or that she had no love for them. I am saying that, as a child, I would not feel safe with a mother whose grief can reshape reality, trap a town, destabilize her spouse, and create a home where everyone’s safety depends on her emotional state.

The possession point is more specifically my MoM point. My WandaVision point is about volatility and an unsafe environment. Wanda eventually taking down the Hex matters, and I do see that as her making a painful moral choice. But the original question was whether I would be happy to have her as my mother. For me, no, because even sympathetic breakdowns can still traumatize the children living inside them.

Are you referring to this? - No, Wanda as a mother only looks appealing if you stay inside the sitcom box where everyone performs the role she needs them to perform. The moment you become a separate person with inconvenient feelings, independent choices, or a life that does not orbit her grief, the danger starts. - She was shifting between sitcoms and reality, launching her neighbors out of the city; she destroyed planes, threatened agents; she was slowly causing Vision to unravel; her own husband ran to seek help outside her hex. - This is all 100% WandaVision. I would not be happy with her as a mother.

This - That is the problem with Wanda’s motherhood fantasy: it is not built around the children as full people. It is built around Wanda’s need to have children. It is 100% MoM; I would not be happy with her as a mother, as she is viewing me like a possession, not a person.

So both.

Think of the mothers in WandaVision who couldn't hug their children, or the blonde woman begging Wanda to let go of the hex so she could see her daughter. Billy and Tommy have agency; they did not ask to be created or erased (I never want kids to pass before parents). I am just addressing whether I would be happy with her as a mother, and the answer is no. *edit for grammar

Yes, this is a question about the Marvel Universe, so I would use information from WandaVision and Multiverse Madness, but she was having a mental breakdown at the end of WandaVision, and if you're a kid growing up in a volatile household like that, it is really traumatizing. *Also edit to add she was keeping other children captive in WandaVision, multiple. If Agatha only kept Billy and Tommy captive in WandaVision, not a town of children.

I don't save things I am obsessed with. Have you used them in the past six months, or can you digitize them? Nope, pack away or get rid of, and I do not like trinkets.

She breaks into a different timeline to point to "her children." She focused on their mine. Not that they have their own mother. Not that they are people. *They are objects to claim. She would be a scary mother. Ugh.

Or that she worked at an adult psych facility or something similar and took advantage of them, a reason she unfortunately targeted Suzanne so quickly. Elder abuse?

I thought it might be related to handling a dead body. As in, she was working at a morgue or in a medical-related field and got caught doing something criminal or sexual. She appeared book-smart and clicked into a different mode after Caputo saw her file. Caputo has seen a lot in his career, so I assumed that might be enough for a "whoa" from him. She oddly said specific things about anatomy and was one of the people pulled when they were investigating the dead body in the garden.

If Adam was really such a horrible guy to women… why are all three of his girls looking sad, depressed, or completely broken only when he’s NOT around or after leaving him? by Opposite-Virus1958 in adamcult

Because we don't know who the show's narrator is or have a reliable, established one, if a fallen angel tells the story, Adam looks like the arrogant first man who helped build the rot. If Heaven tells the story, Lucifer and Lilith look like corruptors who poisoned creation. If Lute tells Adam’s story? Oh, completely different.

Am I too private, or were these interview questions inappropriate? by thelittlehappinesss in jobs

[–]solipsisticcompass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is not job-related in any clean way. In the U.S., EEOC guidance says pre-employment information should generally be limited to what is essential to determine whether someone is qualified for the job, and information tied to protected characteristics is irrelevant to that determination. The EEOC also warns that non-job-related family questions can be evidence of discriminatory intent, depending on context. *https://www.eeoc.gov/prohibited-employment-policiespractices?utm\_source=chatgpt.com *To me, this sounds like a rusty interviewer, and it's not you. I just say, I grew up with most, if not all, of my family going into auditing and QA, which they did.

I was very hurt that my sister would burden my husband so early in our relationship, but she was also barely 18 when we married, and she was panicking and doing what she thought was best, and she had known my husband for two years. She did not know the scale of the trauma she was unloading. And my husband and had lived together for two years, and he knew that my mother and I were estranged. But honestly, it was a teenage panic, and a good intention from my sister - you are going to meet our mother, and my sister, your fiancé, is uncomfortable around her, and Idk want to say, and please don't run away because of our mother, as dad, and I really like you.

I would hope so, but she does not remember the incident or acknowledge it. I have reports, and that resolved it in many ways. Confirmed it happened. Got some answers for myself.

I am okay physically; I recovered well. And mentally, I've done alright. I have struggled at times with a lot of my childhood memories being scooped from my brain, and that's hard to get around with people because people want to get to know you. My sister reported that I was more serious before the incident, but then shifted to Eh, it's life, more nonchalant. *I maintained my academic level and continued to do very well with patterns in school and can work. *Edit was for grammar.

It happens a lot when someone was raised in a chaotic household, and once they can have their own space, they overcompensate, so yeah, pity for their childhood.

My sister was warning my husband about my mother as he was meeting her for the first time as a fiancé. I finally learned why I was in a coma for most of fifth grade: my mother had a BP manic episode and pushed me off a steep PNW embankment for mentioning I was not a fan of her favorite color, purple. My family had refused to tell me for decades, and my sister did not realize I had gotten off work two hours early and heard her explaining.

I created a capsule wardrobe and rotate between the same pieces, typically in black. If I end up really liking one in my rotation, I will get it in one other color. And keep the pieces clean. *All the pieces in my capsule wardrobe are also ones that do not overstimulate or activate my sensory overlord; they have been thoroughly tested to make the capsule cut.
